This car was originally owned by Jag racer Peter Schmidt. It was fitted with an aluminum bonnet with special brake cooling ducts from the factory and tribar headlights. The engine was alleged to be something more than stock. This car was up for closed bid estate auction on Long Island around 1982 along with Peters MK 9 and racing E type. The car was in very good original conditon at the time starting immediately and settling to a smooth idle. I bid on the car but did not win it. I learned later it sold for around $7500. I believe this car was offered for sale on the internet (not e bay) about 3-4 years ago out of Connecticut in the $80-100k range)

For Sale: Schmidt/Garz 1963 Jaguar E-Type
This rare factory semi-lightweight E-Type roadster sports racer is believed to be one of only 12 ever to have been prepared at the Jaguar factories special vehicles workshop. It is likewise believed to be currently one of seven left in existence.
I am the third owner. The first owner was Mr. Peter Schmidt who drove the vehicle to seven consecutive CLISCC autocross championships in seven consecutive years. With Mr. Al Garz's well respected Jaguar tuning prowess, Mr. Schmidt drove the car to a C-class win at the Bridgehampton Speedway in the summer of 1972. This is a "known" car which is referred to in numerous e-type Jaguar publications as the Schmidt/Garz E-type.
The second owner, Mr. James Royster, acquired the car from the estate of Mr. Peter Schmidt in July of 1981. He then did a basic restoration of the vehicle and drove it for a number of years as a street car. I acquired the vehicle from Mr. Royster in 1998 and took five years to complete the vehicles complete ground-up restoration and upgrades.
The engine was rebuilt by Mr. Bill Terry of Terry's Jaguars in Benton, Illionois. The engine modifications and upgrades are too extensive to list here, but during dyno tuning and break-in, Mr. Terry documented a crank horsepower output of 327 HP at 6200 rpm and 354 ft lbs of torque at 5700 rpm. From 2200 to 6400 rpm redline, the engine never produced less than 200 ft lbs of torque.
There have been extensive structural upgrades based on original engineering documents. Aluminum d-type radiator, water pump, water overflow reservoir, micro-V under driven aluminum billet accessory drive pulleys, four piston billet Wilwood ventilated disk brake system with balancing valve, custom aircraft grade aluminum alloy Dayton wire wheels and many other custom lightweight aluminum parts have been meticulously installed. This vehicle has a five speed close ratio transition with a fifth speed overdrive. It is a bulletproof car that can be run at autocross and other race events if so desired or driven across the country. The vehicle weights less than 2200 lbs (a normal factory e-type is 2416 lbs). This is a VERY fast, stable vehicle capable of +100 mph four wheel apex drifts which will outrun almost any road drivable period car. Likewise, there are few currently available production street cars with similar performance capabilities. In fifth gear on the highway this car cruises at 80 mph at less than 2200 rpm.
It is an extremely rare and well developed example of the original factory E-type racing breed that has a significant and storied race history. Admittedly, I am unsure as to the vehicles current fair market value. But, if one looks to the performance capabilities of the Eagle Jaguar's replica e-types most highly tuned 3.8 liter 6 cylinder roadsters as a comparison, they are priced at approximately $300,000.00 USD. These are very nice replicas, but replicas none the less. I am asking $250,000.00 USD for this rare and significant vehicle. It needs to be driven to be appreciated and is true drivers car. I am preparing a web site for the vehicle that will include Pdf's of all of the extensive documentation that will be included with the vehicles purchase. Thank you for your consideration.

I am the current owner of the Schmidt/Garz Semi-Lightweight. The car was originally listed by a friend of mine without my permission on his EBay account on a whim. I received an offer of $225,000.00 from an extremely well respected collector from Austin, Texas withing 3 days of my buddy listing it. I did not consummate the sale at the time. The car is now listed for sale by the actual owner with the correct information at www.63etypejag.com
