Sellers comment:
LITTLE TIDBITS YOU SHOULD KNOW: This was the LAST of the production of the Series I 3.8 which is WHY the console DOES NOT have the aluminum insert. This was a METICULOUS and COMPLETE restoration. EVERY part of the car was disassembled and either all parts were restored or replaced to Factory Correct Specifications!!
Vehicle Condition
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. NEEDS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!

1964 Jaguar Series I E-Type Roadster
ESTIMATE: $60,000 - $70,000
CHASSIS NO: 877426
Finished in its original colors, a lovely red with a black interior, this handsome example is fresh from a ground-up restoration less than 100 miles ago. We understand this E-Type is in exceptional overall condition and is ready for exhilarating motoring, something that only a purebred early Series I E-Type offers in spades.

For many aficionados, the first-of-breed purity of the triple-carb 3.8L Series 1 E-types, before U.S. federal regulations compromised the looks and later muted the performance, is the defining expression of the E-type theme. And that’s what we have here, a 1964 3.8L E-type that is one of just 6,886 Series 1 roadsters produced. With its classic Carmen Red livery, black leather interior and black convertible top, it is mercifully free of spurious “garnishes,” such as the needless white-stripe tires that so offend purists. Instead the correct blackwall tires set off the standard-issue chrome wire wheels with the signature Jaguar two-eared spinners, and similarly on the interior there is no deviation from the drilled three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel and slim-line bucket seats. In its day, the E-type was sensational in one other regard: Aston Martins and Ferraris were more than double the money, and the Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadster was close to three times as much. Today, the price-performance ratio stacks up even more.

Something very wrong with this car, vin, and lack of other numbers. That vin number is NOT a 1964 car. 1963 cars started with 878863 so this is a 1962 model. Vin plate is a replacement re stamp. I’m surprised this wasn’t seen at the auction…….

A photo of the Heritage Certificate would throw some light on the incorrect body number and transmission number, along with the incorrect year related to the vin.......
