Sellers comment:
HERE IS ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF AN EARLY COVERED HEADLIGHT--SERIES I JAGUAR ROADSTER THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN,, IN THE ALMOST 30 YEARS OF MY TRAVELING TO PEBBLE BEACH AND BARRETT-JACKSON AUCTIONS AND EVENTS,, THIS ONE RANKS WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!!

RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL SHEER ELEGANCE AND SPLENDOR,,, THE LINES AND DETAIL ARE BREATHTAKING,,,IT RUNS AND DRIVES AS THOUGH IT WAS A BRAND NEW CAR DELIVERED IN 1962,, FINISHED IN ARTIC WHITE WITH MATCHING RED INTERIOR,, THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR BRUSHED ALUMINUM AND STAINLESS ARE JUST ABOUT PERFECT,, ALL NEW RUBBERS AND WEATHERSTRIPPING THROUGHOUT,, THE UNDERCARRIAGE HAS BEEN CAREFULLY DETAILED AS WELL,,,THE FIT AND FINISH AND THE TOLERANCES (GAPS BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE DOORS AND AROUND THE TRUNK AND BONNET) ARE JUST PERFECT,,, THE GLASS IS CRYSTAL CLEAR,,,THE FACTORY WIRE WHEELS ARE VERY NICE BUT THERE ARE SOME BLEMISHES AROUND THE EDGES OF THE SPOKES,,,, EVERY BIT OF SHEET METAL APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL AND UNMOLESTED, NO EVIDENCE OF ANY REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT,,,

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE ULTIMATE DRIVING EXPERIENCE,,, JUST DROP THE TOP AND GET READY FOR THE FUN AND ADVENTURE THAT WILL PUT AN INCREDIBLE SMILE ON YOUR FACE,

Car to be at auction 3/10

Auction description:
1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Litre Roadster
Lot# 14
Chassis No. 876822

Engine No. R4244-9

* Early, Matching-Numbers Example
* Sensational 2008 Restoration
* Certified by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust
* Concours-Winning Presentation
When the assembly of this striking Series 1 E-Type was completed on March 1, 1962 – only a year after the model debuted at the Geneva Motor Show – the car was finished in cream paint complemented by a red interior and a black top. Two weeks later, this export-bound example was dispatched to Jaguar Cars of New York for a long life of grand touring on America’s roads. While details of this car’s interim history are vague, it is known that the car eventually found its way to California where its current owner has made great strides in renewing the glorious presentation and establishing its heritage.

In 2008, this beautiful open two-seater received a thorough restoration conducted to the highest standards that has ensured the utmost in authenticity and correct presentation. Since this important work, only 200 miles have been added to the odometer, a guarantee that the next owner will amply reap the benefits of its immaculate visual details, proper presentation and smooth-running mechanics. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust has issued a Certificate of Authenticity for this sleek E-Type, affirming that the car is a correct, matching-numbers example.

The benefits of restoration and certification have already paid dividends at local California exhibitions, such as the 2008 Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance where the car took Best in Show. At a JCNA event in San Diego, this impressive E-Type garnered 99.72 points in judged scoring, failing to reach 100 only because the the license plate holder and jack were not present at the judging, but both of which are accounted for and included with the car.

Now featuring a tan soft top and accompanied by photo documentation of the restoration process, this expertly presented E-Type is a pristine example of the iconic model that returned Jaguar to the cutting edge of European sports car manufacturing. It is the perfect acquisition for the Jaguar enthusiast or the general collector seeking to add a quality early E-Type to his garage.
