Car to be at RM auction 3/09
http://www.rmauctions.com/search-upcoming.cfm?parentsection=search&SortBy=AL&searchSubmit=1&Sale=AM09&yearFrom=&yearTo=&LotNum2=&Make=jaguar&Model=#
Auction description:
1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster
LOT: 220
Estimate: $90,000-$120,000 US
Chassis No. 876471
Offered Without Reserve
The outstanding E-Type presented here recently finished a total, high-point, show-quality restoration conducted by the Jaguar specialists at Lippincott’s Garage. An early flat floor example finished in red with a biscuit leather interior, the car currently shows less than 52,000 original miles. The engine was totally rebuilt and the car also benefits from a stainless steel exhaust, aluminum radiator and new wheels and tires. Notable extras include a custom car cover, tool kit, jack, owner’s handbook and safety belts.
Sleek, sporty and thoroughly visceral in its driving manners, the Jaguar E-Type was like nothing else, before or since. With various iterations produced in three body styles over three different series, it is the early Open Two Seaters that, in the eyes of many collectors, are the most desirable. With its show-quality restoration and stunning red finish, this example is certainly one of the finest.
