    Ebay item 10/7/04
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $1,247.00 (Reserve not met), 7 bids, 9 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
Up for auction is a 1962 Jaguar XKE Roadster “flat floor” with a 3.8 6 cylinder engine and manual transmission. I am auctioning this for a friend. He acquired the car when his dad passed away. The car was in the process of being prepped for restoration. I have sold several vehicles on ebay and have good feedback and want to keep it. This description is as complete and accurate as I can make it. I inspected the car and could find no rust. It does need bodywork and paint as well as interior work and assembly. There are too many parts to picture or list so. There is a low reserve on this vehicle and it will sell. Bid to buy- these cars are some of the most beautiful when restored.

    Vehicle Condition
The car is partially disassembled, engine and transmission are out. Engine was prepped for rebuild but has not been re-assembled. Engine number matches the VIN tag on the car. Parts are in boxes in a local storage unit. The vehicle has both a convertible top (intact but rear window is yellowed) and a hard top that has slight oxidation but will be very shiny when cleaned as evidenced by a small buffed area in one of the pics. Windshield is intact with no cracks. There is no rust on this car that I could find. The car was last registered in 1972 and the odometer indicates 85K miles. This car looks to have spent 10 years on New Mexico roads. I took pictures of the undercarriage, inside the trunk, in the engine compartment and car is rust free. There are a few spots of body putty from its previous history. The car is an original gunmetal color. The seats are from a later model. Only one of the original seats is still with the car. What this car needs is someone to inventory parts and begin to put it back together the right way. The bonnet has been damaged in the past and pulled back out but would require reworking by a skilled body man. The current owner knows he can’t do it justice and is not willing to pay someone else to restore it so he is prepared to let it go.

    additional text froTerms of Sale

What comes with the car? Clear title, car, intact suspension, spare tire, doors, bonnet, hardtop, various lenses, chrome trim pieces, interior parts, consoles, rechromed bumpers, engine (block, head, front timing cover, oil pan, intake, carbs and intake, oil pan, rods, pistons, crank, distributor, valve covers). In addition, radiator, shroud, air cleaner, original jack, perspex headlight covers and trim, drive shaft, transmission, tonneau cover (not sure if it fits), console, radio housing, wire wheels that look like they will clean up great, and on and on. We don’t know if anything is missing. The car has been stored indoors, disassembled for the last 15 years and it continues to take up room in my friends’ garage.m auction:

Stephen, I own the next car up the line, 876073. Our cars were seemingly in about the same condition and both cost us almost exactly the same amount to purchase. You're making better progress than I am!

Red letter day, after being dormant for roughly 35 years & 9 years of ownership & weekend work she's had her first outing under her own steam. A monumental moment for me and worth all the hard work. although slightly unnerving.Ha!
