EBay item 190129042105, starting bid $25k; VIN J62875247
"Early 62 flatfloor, exterior latch bonnet, welded bonnet louvers. This car has had a body off resto. When I bought this car it had been in storage since 1982. The engine, trany, rear end & brakes had never had fluids installed after rebuild. All openings were sealed to moisture and dirt/dust. The suspension, exhaust & brake system appear to be new. The engine runs strong once I got the 3 carbs adjusted, the clutch is smooth and brakes work fine. I have only been able to drive it up & back on my driveway as I don,t have lights yet. I have maybe 90% of trim to finish car.I was waiting to have a paint job before installing trim. I have original seats & the top frame. Great car. I installed a 15" steering wheel & new 6" wire wheels with new tires."

This car seems to have been parking next to 877513. But who the heck needs two E-Types and especially two roadsters ;) says the owner of also more than one E-Type.

    cars.bonhams.com/auction/29935/lot/116/1961-jaguar-e-type-series-1-38-litre-flat ...

    Estimate: €150,000 - €200,000

    Auction description :

    1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-litre 'Flat Floor' Roadster

    Chassis no. 875247

    Engine no. R 1362-9

    • The 247th of just 385 left-hand drive 'outside bonnet lock' Roadsters built

    • Matching numbers chassis & engine

    • Originally ordered in 'Cream' with red interior

    • Professionally restored in the late 2000s

    • Beautifully presented

    • Danish registration document

An early 'flat floor' car with the outside bonnet locks and welded-in bonnet louvres, left-hand drive chassis number '875247' was built on 18th July 1961 and delivered to Jaguar Cars, New York, USA. It is estimated only 385 early 'outside bonnet lock' Roadsters were built in left-hand drive. The E-Type was originally finished in Cream with red interior and black soft-top, as it is today. The car remained in the USA until 2008 when it was sold to a Mr Andersen in Denmark. Mr Andersen had the E-Type professionally restored, and kept the car until recently when it was passed on to the next Danish collector. The car is beautifully presented, with very good lines and shut gaps (always difficult on an E-Type). The accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms the chassis and matching engine number which can be found on both the engine block as the cylinder head. The Jaguar E-type is one of the few stylistically perfect designs in automotive history, and these rare 'flat floor' examples represent the marque in its earliest and purest form.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.
