Auction description:
LIVE AUCTION: Saturday 28th May
Lot Number 432
JAGUAR E TYPE 3.8 EXTERNAL BONNET LOCK ROADSTER
Chassis No.198. Fresh from a superb restoration and simply outstanding.
Registration Number 906UYN
Chassis Number 875198
Engine Number R1290-9
Body Colour Bronze
Finished on 11 July 1961 in left-hand drive, this 3.8-litre E-Type Roadster (Chassis No 875198) was despatched just ten days later to Jaguar Cars New York before eventually landing with its first owner, Mr J Barthom in Honolulu, Hawaii. Beautifully finished in its original colour combination of Bronze with a Beige interior and a Fawn soft top, '198' is fresh to market after a total restoration to the very highest of standards by marque specialists, Rothwell Engineering, so fresh indeed that number plates have yet to be fitted. The rare and very attractive colour combination sets this particular external bonnet lock, E-Type apart from the rest, with an outstanding finish and superb attention to detail throughout. Only a few 'setting-up' miles will have been covered since completion of the restoration so it is highly recommended that a period of ‘running in’ is observed to achieve the very best from this stunning Jaguar. With only 300 (92 in RHD) E-Types leaving Browns Lane fitted with the original external bonnet locks, this is a rare opportunity to own what is often described as being the ‘Holy Grail’ of E-Types. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to satisfy yourself with regards to the stunning restoration that has gone into bringing #875198 back to life
