A very reluctant sale of my beloved 1962 E Type, a car I have owned for almost 10 years.

I spent 4 years looking for exactly the spec of this car and ended up buying her in NZ, whilst I was living in Singapore (the power of the Internet!). And have never regretted doing so!

Car number 188 (860188), built late Jan 1962.

She has her original engine (lightened and balanced plus D Type cams) with a later (1967) full-synchro 4-speed gearbox. She has Series 2 brakes (4-pot calipers with vented discs), and a remote brake booster with Wilwood proportioning valve. Aftermarket 16" fan to keep her cool. Mallory Unilite distributor. 6" wide 72-spoke painted competition wire wheels. 3.07 diff. Original interior in red, in very good condition.

Always stored indoors in a Carcoon.

She was raced in the 80's and apparently took a 1st place in the 1st Wellington street races in 1985. Quite a lot of her history is known. She had a no-expense-spared body refurbishment in the late 80's when owned by a prominent NZ businessman. I had her bare metal resprayed in 2002 (photos available), and the body was near immaculate (no rust or filler).

NOTE: photos of the interior were taken recently during the time the engine was out having a new clutch fitted.

This is a car to be driven, not polished and taken to shows (unless you really want to!).

Will be sold with new WoF (and 12 months rego, if car is to remain in NZ)

Asking price: $90,000 Or Near Offer

A fantastic E type, used regularly with tasteful upgrades. Recent 1100 km drive over 2 days and performed faultlessly, still faster than most moderns and way more cool.

Looking for past ownership and competition history if anyone can help

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
