She is in a sorry state, but all there apart from the bonnet.

In need of salvation. We will let you decide if its simply serendipitous coincidence that we have heard about this discovery today, 15th March 2021, which is the 60th anniversary of the E Type. It is a special car - and one that is in need of a lot of TLC. It really is a garage find now seeking a new owner who can rescue it and return it to its former glory. Finished in Cotswold Blue it is one of 138 right hand drive FHC examples built in the E Type's launch year, 1961 and the first to be registered in Ireland.

It's first owner was the famous racehorse trainer, Paddy Prendergast. A gift to him from a rich American racehorse owner, following a run of good results with her horse that Prendergast trained. She bought the E Type from Cavey Motors, the Jaguar dealer in Dublin around Christmas 1961 however Prendergast couldn't get insurance on his beautiful new E Type so he sold it in 1962.

Between 1962 and 1967 it passed through several hands before arriving at Heeley Motors in Dublin. At just six years old the E Type was in need of work. The work was taken on by Richie Heeley, the garage proprietor's son and well known rally driver. He stripped the car ready for restoration however the restoration never happened. More than half a century since he started restoration he's decided it is time for someone else to take on the project.

Almost all the parts are with the E Type, save the bonnet which was rusted beyond the point of salvation. This Kildare car, chassis number 860122 is sold with its original engine and original log book. Unsurprisingly, given it was laid up at just 6 weeks old, in 6 decades this car has covered a mere 35,000 miles. Do you fancy taking on Ireland's first FHC and bringing it back to best? It certainly is a big job.
