Jaguar Quarterly stated in 1991 that this car was 'Last seen Birmingham area. " No date was given, current whereabouts unknown. Dispatched July 25, 1961.

This car is in Coventry and has been the subject of an ongoing restoration for years. In fact the owner works for Jaguar at Wrighton design plant. I have photos of the same including some very rare period parts. It was Gunmetal with red interior and is I believe being rebuilt the same - oneday!

I have had this car since the mid 80's, I am the second owner, it is low mileage with full history and documentation, and is still part way through restoration to concours. Next to be seen on the concours circuit, who knows when!
If anyone has a rear hood chrome (unique to this era) let me know please as its the only original part missing!! By the way its colour scheme is opalescent dark blue with a red interior.

I'm glad to say 22 is progressing - the body is complete and in basecoat on its way to concours paint finish. I'm determined to find a way to make sure the exact shade of op. blue is used - not as easy as you might think!
Also I still work for JLR but I'm Gaydon based...at least access to archived drawing information if necessary should ensure reassembly is accurate....one day!!

850022's restoration was rewarded with 1st prize in the joint Jaguar Car Clubs' Concours D'Elegance held at the 60th E Type Anniversary event at Bicester on 4 July 2021. What better accolade on its 60th year too! The car hasn't been seen in public since 1972 when it was retired into dry storage with 28,500 original miles, meaning that the restoration was in part preservation with an inordinately high proportion of original parts re-used that would normally have been replaced in a typical restoration.
Much of the cars' cabin trim is original and, excepting the carpets and some hardura, where it isn't the cars' original, NOS matching vinyl has been used.
For replaced parts a huge number of NOS parts were used following 27 years worth of searching and collating, including NOS Dunlop RS5 tyres, unique factory A pillar seals, numerous Metalastic bushings etc etc.
The cars' credibilty is supported by its original green log book, warranty card, service book, sales invoice, initial dealer order confirmation, final dealer delivery note, sales brochure, operating handbook....etc etc. The car was one of the 18 first RHD cars manufactured to be allocated by Lofty England to competition drivers, but this car, although complete with some tuning modifications, was never competed with in anger.
The cars' condition is unique in many respects and a credit to its first owner who's care for the car ensured its long term authenticity.
