52,160 MILES, ON EBAY 07/08, SELLER WRITES:THIS IS ONE OF THE LAST 4.2LITER XKE CONVERTABLES MADE

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE WERE LESS THAN 20, 6 CYLINDER "E-TYPE" ROADSTERS PRODUCED IN THE 1971 MODLE YEAR THIS BEING ONE OF THEM.

Vehicle ID # 2R14266

Body # 4R9053

Engine # 7R13542-9

Gear Box # KE 15900

My son found this very original, solid, dry, low mileage car.

The elderly owner whose health was failing, had the Jag painted in the late 70’s. The planned interior work, new top and reassembly never happened.

We purchased the car and brought it to its present state of repair.

We have done the following to date.

* Changed the oil and filter.

* Removed and cleaned the gas tank.

* Removed and cleaned the carburetor float, jets and bowls.

* Cleaned out the clutch and brake master cylinders and hydraulic systems.

* Replaced the spark plugs and plug wires.

* Replaced four of the five tires due to the originals being to dry rotted, the original Pirelli spare is in the trunk.

* Re-cored the original radiator.

* Replaced miscellaneous rubber lines and hoses.

This Jag runs, holds good oil pressure, makes no unusual mechanical noises, shifts well and yard drives.

Our original plan was to finish the repairs required to put the XKE on the road as a driver, but given the unusually low production numbers we have decided to pass this car on to someone who can better afford the correct treatment of this classic.

There does seem to be at least 600 cars built after this one.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
