This 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 was distributed new in New York and spent time in California and Pennsylvania before being purchased by the selling dealer in North Carolina in 2024. The car was refinished in it’s factory white in 2011, and it is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Features include beige upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, and quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The tires were replaced and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale. This Series III E-Type is now offered with a Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The car is finished in white and features uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, US-spec bumpers, pop-out rear quarter windows, and a power antenna. The selling dealer notes that the glass was removed and the body was repainted in 2011. Pitting is visible in the chrome trim.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are wrapped in 205/70 Vredestein Quatrac 5 tires that were mounted in preparation for the sale. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The seller notes that the suspension and brake systems were overhauled in 2007.
The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in beige leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. Interior amenities include an aftermarket digital stereo, a center armrest, and a locking glovebox. The air conditioning does not work.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 50 miles of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 5.3-liter V12 is equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. The carburetors were rebuilt in 2007, the fuel tank was replaced in 2011, and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the latter of which was rebuilt in 2007.
The Jaguar-Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists factory identification numbers and colors as well as a build date in May 1972.
