Jaguar has always created designs that were way ahead of their time. The Jaguar XKE was so well received that the basic design was maintained for years and became one of Jaguars longest running models. It was no wonder why, especially when you look at this fine example. Standard features with the XKE, like the V12 SOHC engine, would classify this luxury sports coupe as one of the world's Super Cars. The power plant and the sleek, long and low line roof and hood, would line this vehicle up along side any highline luxury sport coupes anywhere in the world. This design is probably one of Jaguar's most uniquely recognizable styles in the world as well. Most enthusiast see this vehicle and sculpture on wheels. Recalling posters of the world's super cars and you'll find the XKE lined within.
Jaguars produced this years XKE in extremely low quantities and are rarely ever seen in tact, let alone in restored condition, as this one is. The low profile position of the XKE gives it such incredibly outstanding looks, also became its nemesis against curbs and the like. So finding one in the condition you see here is even more rare. This vehicle has no problems making its owner feel exclusive and in style even though this exquisite vehicle is 31 years old. The attention this vehicle garnishes is unbelievable and downright enjoyable too.
The ownership history of this Jaguar is also unique. Originally owned and operated by the current owner's cousin then sold to our consignor in 1977, hence the one family ownership. The restoration began in 1982 and was a complete down to bear metal restoration as you will see in the pictures below.
The restoration was completed over a two year period, driven for about three years then stored for about seven. The tires although they only have about 200 miles have sat too long and are severely out of round and will need to be replaced. We felt the new owners would rather pick out their favorite brand. The car drives smoothly up to about 55 mph, but there after, you'll know it needs the tires.
The service history of this vehicle is as an enthusiast would have it. The entire fuel system has recently been repaired and replaced, due to storage. A complete tune up and overall extreme mechanical and physical inspection has taken place to make this car the very best we can for the auction winner. The British Connection, a 26 year British car service center was extremely impressed with the performance of this vehicle and notated their satisfaction and recommendations on their service bill.
The Air Conditioning blow ice cold and all of the electrical components perform properly. The power rack and pinion steering system has seepage and the boot is broke but the system performs well. The body is absolutely beautiful as is the paint and all of the chrome. The exhaust system is stunning. The vehicle had some rust that was addressed during the restoration and the vehicle shows very little evidence of rust although it seems old rust can be found.
The interior is beautiful as well. No major damage or rips. The windshield has a 1/4" chip in it that could be repaired if not already. The radio is the only interior option that is not working.
