COLOR IN PHOTO LOOKS TO BE SIGNAL RED. LISTED IN HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS 11/06. ASKING $26,500

2014-04-08 10:27:18 | Clive writes:

Advertised on autotraderclassics.com April 2014 asking $45,000.
Seller's description: "1971 Jaguar (small bumper) XKE 2+2. Finished in Signal Red with excellent original Biscuit interior (except for new headliner and carpets). 46,627 original miles. Equipped with manual transmission and A/C. This rust free car had a total frame-off restoration in 1995 by a New Hampshire collector at a cost of $55,908 for the restoration alone. This owner continued to improve this Jag with another $8,697 in upgrades. This vehicle stayed in his position until an Ohio collector purchased it after 2005. I purchased this XKE in August 2010 from a classic car dealership in Canton, Ohio. Since that time I have invested another $11,985 to bring the Jag up to its present strong #2 condition. Basically almost every component of this vehicle has been repaired replaced including body, engine, clutch, brakes, AC & hoses, steering rack, radiator, hoses & belts, tires, poly bushings, ball joints shocks and too many other to mention. I have receipts and photos to verify all of these repairs and they total $76,590. The paint, interior, glass, chrome mechanicals are in excellent condition, this car needs nothing. This is a numbers matching XKE with a Heritage Certificate and original dealer literature. I have owned a 1973 XKE roadster and there is no comparison as to the drivability comfort, safety and convenience of this 2+2. This Jaguar is pristine and well worth the asking price! Factory tools and jack."

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
