This Series 3 V12 E Type coupe was manufactured in Coventry 4 May 1971 in Signal Red with biscuit beige interior, the more desirable 4-speed manual gearbox and chrome wires. Originally, in lefthand drive, it was then despatched to the US 25 May 1971, returning from Virginia to the UK in late 1987 with VAT paid to Customs & Excise January 1990 (copy of this paperwork is on file)..
The 2+2 fixed head was acquired by the current owner July 1996, since when he has commissioned various marque specialists to fully restore TNB 61J to the current condition which is claimed to be excellent. A photographic record with invoices detailing the work carried out is likely to have been included, we understand, in the documents file.
Phoenix Cars carried out a bare metal rebuild, most new parts used being supplied by Hutson Motor Company. For conversion to righthand drive, genuine Jaguar components including steering rack, wiring harness and dashboard items were employed. Fuel injection was changed to more user-friendly Stromberg carbs. New Connolly leather, headlining and Wilton carpets were installed by trimmer Mike Satur. Final finishing was entrusted to CGP Auto Engineers and the vehicle MOTd 25 July 2003.
The vendor is hopeful that this MOT will have been renewed by sale day, while the current tax disc does not expire until next June. The 43,041 mileage displayed when entered is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
