Ebay item 12/24/22
Current bid: $4,050 reserve not met 8 bids 6 days left in auction, seller zak_at_zombiemotors, car now said to be in Eugene, Oregon, 27k miles.
Seller's description:
Here is a rare opportunity to buy an actual rust free Jaguar XKE Series III 2+2 coupe.
SO - This Jaguar XKE looks great, starts/ runs/ drives/ stops in excellent fashion. In the 1970s, at around 50,000 miles, when the original V12 engines had problems, the previous owner had engine replaced with a Ford V8 engine. This was pretty common practice at the time, as the V12 had a reputation for being unreliable. Original Jaguar transmission retained. At the same time (about 40 years ago), interior was re-done in brown naugahyde/ vinyl which is still in excellent condition. Car is excellent driver.
About a year ago, the aging V8 was replaced with a brand-new Ford Crate COBRA engine for $6000. Engine presents as brand-new , has less than 3000 miles on it, and has no leaks/ problems/ issues/ funny noises/ etc. Transmission rebuilt at same time. Transmission shifts hard and tight, as it should. Lots of power, posi-traction rear end works as it should. Suspension has been rebuilt with new bushings and shocks, and brakes look new as well. I can not stress enough, this car is road-trip ready, mechnically at least. I used it as a daily driver in the summer/ fall, but now in winter it is just sitting and I have another car I really want to buy (Lotus Esprit Turbo SE) so this one has to go as well as a 1972 Jaguar XJ6 series 1 (check my other auctions) and Ferrari Mondial.
When the engine swap was originally performed, the speedometer and tachometer were swapped to US units. This speedometer now shows 27,700 miles, so I believe the car itself has covered only about 77,000 miles in its life.
Dayton gold wire wheels and brand new tires in October of this year.
Car brakes firmly and perfectly straight.
Underneath , car has absolutely ZERO rust. Spare tire well perfect as are floors.
Things the car needs .... are all cosmetic. Headliner is sagging. Chrome trim missing from top of windshield ( I have new chrome strip that will go with buyer) . If I park this car outside in the rain (which I do not do) , it will leak water in through door seals on my head. Rear hatch leaks also. I have purchased new seals, but not installed them yet.
Heater blower motor spins fast, but does not push a lot of air, so I really do not drive in the cold/ wet.
Carpet present, but old and dirty.
All lights, blinkers, etc work. Radio does not work.
Car is drop-dead gorgeous.
