This is a 1971 Jaguar 2+2 V-12 powered E-Type (XKE) partially restored. This is a complete car with tons of new parts ready to be finished. It has been in dry storage since 1990. All the major components are original, including the engine and transmission.
We purchased this car in 1985 and drove it for 3 years before we started the restoration. At that time we removed the complete drive-train the engine was rebuilt, the transmission was rebuilt, all of the suspension bushings and ball joints were replaced. The brakes were refurbished, new shocks all the way around, all the coolant and heater hoses replaced.
The body was stripped to bare metal any repairs made and primed with 2 part epoxy Fiberfill paint. Then 8 coats of burgundy lacquer were applied and hand rubbed to a mirror finish (see picture 7 and the reflection of the window). All new rubber body and window gaskets were installed along with a new windshield. The interior was gutted for an all new Connolly leather interior and wool carpets and padding from G.W. Bartlett Co. This included new dash and headliner (which has since fallen), a complete new interior that has never been completely installed into the car. We also have many of the old interior pieces. I am sure I have forgotten something.
At this point in 1990 the car was drivable so we put 5 miles on it to make sure everything mechanical was right. Ohhh what a good kitty.
Then we moved and the project was put away for 3 years. At that point when we restarted the engine it ran great for about 10 minutes when the rear main seized. Well it has been on the back shelf since. We have even purchased another engine and trans from a late 70's xjs for the crank. We wanted to keep the original not the HO motor.
I believe the mileage has rolled over. We have over 15 k invested but this kitty needs a home.

The Numbers matching v12 engine has been said to have been rebuilt recently but no paperwork.
The underside, spare tire area, trailing arm mounts, and sills are all very solid and will require no repair.
I have all interior components, seats, center console, and also have the rear bumper. This would make for an easy restoration.
