Car was at auction 9/09
www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/classiccars/viewdetails.php

Auction description:
Lot number 37
Hammer value N/S (est. £12,000 - £15,000)
Description Jaguar E-Type V12 FHC Auto
Registration HPL 8K
Year 1971
Colour Powder Blue
Engine size 5,343 cc
Chassis No. 1550620W
Engine No. 7S4165SA

First registered in November 1971, this automatic V12 has less than 52,000 miles on the clock which is believed by the vendor to be genuine but there is insufficient documentary evidence to confirm this. The car is said to have had one London doctor owner for many years and has had three keepers since. Appearing to be in exceptionally original and unmolested condition throughout, it is said to drive well and has an MOT until May 2010. It looks good value at the guide price suggested today.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
