    Car was at auction 8/12
    www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/08-08-2012-DonningtonPriory-1320/1971JaguarE-T ...

    Auction description:
    Lot Number: 1
    1971 Jaguar E-Type V12 Coupe
Manual car and current ownership since 1980
    Sold For £11,312
    Reg Number: CUA833J
    Chassis Number: 1S50013
    Engine Number: 7S1042-9A
    Cc: 5343
    Body Colour: Dark Red
    Trim Colour: Black
    MOT ExpiryDate: None

This right-hand drive home market V12 Fixed Head Coupe sports dark red coloured bodywork teamed with Black leather upholstery. According to the accompanying V5C Registration Document it was first registered on May 13th 1971 and has had five former keepers; the last of whom being a Robert Lowsdale of Norton, Stockton-on-Tees, who purchased it during June 1978. The Jaguar then passed to the vendor's late husband, Charles Heywood, in January 1980, who retained it for use on high days and holidays. The E-Type is equipped with the preferred manual transmission and rides on the standard issue steel wheels. Though the current odometer reading of 70,468 miles is unwarranted, it is commensurate with the oldest of 18 previous MOT certificates on file that dates back to February 1978, and shows a recorded mileage of 20,350. The certificate concerned also suggests 'CUA 833J' was a resident of Bournemouth during this period. This venerable-looking Jaguar is now being sold complete with MOT and tax valid into July 2013 and at No Reserve.

PLEASE NOTE: Contrary to the vendor's intention this lot does not possess a current MOT certificate or historic class (free) road fund licence. The car was submitted for a recent MOT test and failed on (i) the nearside and offside windscreen washers providing insufficient washer liquid, (ii) nearside front suspension has excessive play in an upper suspension ball joint, (iii) offside front (lower) suspension arm ball joint dust cover excessively damaged so that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt and (iv) offside front exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases.

Advertised for sale in January 2013 for £23,500 by private seller.
    Extract from advert o www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk:

This is possibly the earliest surviving series 3 V12 2+2 Coupe, the 13th chassis (number 50013) in the 1971-73 run of V12 E type coupes fitted with the new 5.3 litre V12 engine, of which only 2116 were manufactured in RHD, starting with chassis 50001. The model was launched officially in June 1971, so the date of first registration of this example, 13/5/1971, suggests this car could have been used by Jaguar for publicity or other launch purposes, but no history exists to testify to this.
This car has had only one owner for 32 years. It presents strongly and is a refreshingly original and unrestored example which is offered ready to use with fresh MOT and new expenditure to the suspension, trim and ignition system. Bodywork Finished in the original regency red, the paintwork is perfect with an excellent shine and depth and the car has very good shut lines. There are no rust or paint defects of any sort. All glass is unmarked. All light lenses and trims are undamaged. Chrome The chrome work is original and therefore not perfect. In particular, some of the wheels show some staining to the chrome and the chroming on the rear bumper is thin in places. You could either selectively rechrome or leave as is. Interior What a nice place to sit. The black leather is a much cooler looking combination with this exterior color than the usual biscuit. The leather is original and supple and in very good shape, with some repairs to the piping on the drivers seat. The carpets are original, and show some aging, limited to the drivers footwell. Unusually for one of these cars, the headlining is excellent. All gauges and switches are correct and undamaged. A period Motorola radio is fitted. Mechanicals This E type is a hoot to drive. The matching numbers engine runs very strongly, with excellent oil pressure and no smoke, and has just benefited from new plug leads, plugs, carb diaphragms and a tune up. The gearbox has perfect synchros and is silent. The brakes work well and pull the car up evenly. The car is well shod with correct type Dunlop radials. A brand new MOT was obtained 16.1.13 the only advisories being some deteriorating front suspension bushes. The under bonnet area is tidy, complete and dry, but could benefit from further detailing if you wished. History file This includes a large quantity of expired MOT certificates going back to 1978, which support the current mileage reading of 70458 miles. The car came from a deceased estate, and there are no invoices for maintenance within the file, although it is clear care and attention has been paid. Summary An original and unrestored, very early manual V12 E type from long term ownership that is on the button and ready to go, in arguably the best colour scheme, priced competitively for a quick sale.
