Sellers comment:
This grand classic has only had one owner since its conception in 1974, delivered new in November of 1974. In my 54 years of selling Jaguars and classic Jaguars, I have never found a XKE of this vintage to have had only one owner. In 30 years the motor car has gone only 51,612 certified one owner miles, which comes to only 1,720 miles per year. Finished in the prancing red lacquer, which is all original and has never been painted on. Impeccable biscuit leather with original carts with perfect original nap, topped off with the original black convertible top. Extremely desired and rare 4 speed gear box with the amazing and most potent V12 engine with 4 SU carburetors. Complete with factory air conditioning, blowing cold, power steering, power disc brakes. As you will see our many pictures displayed this masterpiece is without rust. Maintained rigidly by a mature gentleman. Original documentation as well as the tools, jack, and wheel hammer. All five chrome wire wheels. I have great enthusiasm over this grand classic because I do not feel there is another one in this condition with only one owner that can be found. Always kept in a heated garage since it was conceived and never driven in inclement weather. This is for the investor who wants a piece of Jaguar history. The only motor car to adorn the museum of modern art. The investment potential is endless and never again will you find a duplicate.

This 1974 Jaguar XKE is a Series III Roadster that was built in May 1974 and distributed new through British Leyland of New York. It was purchased by the seller 14 years ago and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Finished in Signal Red over a Biscuit interior, the car is equipped with a black soft top, wire wheels, and air conditioning. Maintenance performed six months ago included new spark plugs, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar links, and U-joints. This XKE is now being offered with its window sticker, a binder of service records, Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are fitted with Firestone thin-whitewall tires. According to the seller, a specialist in North Carolina has trued the wheels. The parking brake does not hold, and the convertible top shows yellowing on the window as well as a repair behind the driver’s window.
The interior is trimmed in Biscuit leather with matching door panels and black rubber floor mats. A Panasonic AM/FM radio with CD player has been installed, though a factory radio is included in the sale.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer, as well as voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel-level gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added by the seller.
The Series III XKE features a 5.3-liter OHC V12, here paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Maintenance performed six months ago included new spark plugs, an oil change, and fresh transmission and differential fluid. The upper and lower ball joints, sway bar links and bushings, and U-joints were also replaced six months ago.
A Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate records the manufacture date, factory colors, and powertrain numbers.
Owner’s books are included along with a binder of service records and score sheets from Jaguar Club events. The window sticker is pictured in the gallery below and shows optional chrome wire wheels, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio.

This 1974 Jaguar E-Type is a Series III roadster that is finished in red over tan leather and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top and top boot, wire wheels, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio. Originally sold by Kayes Auto Exchange in New York, it was offered on BaT in July 2019 and was subsequently purchased by the seller and relocated to Oregon. Service under current ownership has included replacing the brakes, front wheel bearings, shocks, and engine seals. This Series III E-Type is offered with spare parts, a fitted cover, a window sticker, service records, historical documents, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
Finished in Signal Red (7650), exterior details include a black soft top with a matching top boot, chrome trim, hood louvers, V12 badging, central exhaust outlets, and a European chrome bumper conversion. The seller reports a dent in the front passenger side rocker panel was repaired, there is a blemish on the gas door, and wear and repairs are visible on the soft top.
The 15” chrome-finished wire wheels are secured by two-lobed knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Firestone FR710 tires, reportedly installed in 2017. Service since 2019 included replacement of the brake pads and rotors, brake fluid, front wheel bearings, and front shock absorbers. The removed factory three-ear knock-offs are included in the sale.
The cabin features seats trimmed in Biscuit leather with matching door panels and carpets, overlaid by black rubber floor mats. Equipment includes a center console with an armrest, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. The seller reports that the seat foam and speakers have been replaced. The removed factory speakers are included in the sale.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and center-mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque. The seller reports that an aftermarket optical trigger has been fitted inside the factory distributor, and service under current ownership has included replacement of the front main seal and sleeve, drive belts, cam oil feed tube gaskets and cam cover gaskets, and fitting a gear-reduction starter. Additional service has included replacement of the otter switch, header tank, and cooling cable harness along with the starter relay, voltage stabilizer, voltage regulator, and battery. A spare optical ignition sensor, Lucas distributor, and fuel pump are included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission fluid and differential fluid were changed in 2020. The seller notes that the differential seals have been replaced.
The window sticker shows delivery to Kayes Auto Exchange in New York and lists options and a price of $10,360.
