26,000 MILES, ON EBAY 02/08, HAS BEEN COLOR CHANGED TO RED, SELLER WRITES:There's always a story to tell on such an automobile. This car's story begins with my father, who purchased this astonishing E-Type in 1984 from a local Nevada Jaguar enthusiast who seemingly was intrigued with the new XJS and decided to sell the "E" to buy the new BIG Jaguar. His loss was definitely my fathers gain. At only 26,000 miles when purchased by my father, he quickly added 20,000 more miles in the next 4 years with he and my mother joining a local Jaguar club and racing around on every mountain top and vineyard they could find in Northern California and Nevada, wind in their hair and smiles on their faces enjoying every minute they had with the car. Eventually the car began to sit and was being used less and less. In 1994 I decided to buy the car from my father, and much like him I drove about 15,000 miles in the next 4 years. As my business became successful and family life became more of a priority, I started seeing more of the car with the cover on and less with the cover off. July of 2007 I decided that this was just not fair to this magnificent automobile.
This car needs to be driven!!
It has taken me 6 months to muster the courage to place this car for sale. I’ve found plenty of excuses why NOT to sell the E-Type, but the car still sits in the garage and dreams of those fast days swerving through the mountain twisties or flying down a straight aways passing stingrays as if they were standing still…
Work that has been done….
1988 the car was repainted to original red by a local auto restoration shop. They did a masterful job that continues to look amazing today
1999 I had the top end of the engine rebuilt, since the compression in cylinders twelve and one were about 20% less than the other 10 cylinders. All engine components are original. And all numbers match. The work was completed at about 61,000 miles
2004 Replaced the interior, including carpet kit, seats, dash, door panels, and rear storage compartment. The source of the interior is from the premier jaguar restoration shop on the East coast, Bassett’s Jaguars. This interior is better than new.
This car is an astonishing driver. If you want a show car this E-Type would be an easy and inexpensive starting point. It is the last year of its kind.
The car comes with all 5 wire wheels, original Stromberg carburetors, 4 speed manual transmission, factory air conditioning, original radio (not in car) , 2 boot lids (one with the luggage rack, and one without), a black canvas convertible top with the vinyl cover and the black hardtop.
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me.
