Sellers description:
1974 Jaguar XKE V-12 OTS(Open Two Seater) in stunning Signal Red.
This particular example is just Magnificent!!! We purchased it from a local gentleman, along with the 1989 XJS that we sold last week. It lived in his garage for the last 6 years, only being driven about 350 miles!!! It is equipped with Factory Air Conditioning, Power Steering and an Automatic Gearbox. The Chrome Wire Wheels with Dunlop Elite Seventy's are just Gorgeous, as is the rest of the car. The odometer on this vehicle now reads 70,378 miles.....amazing!!! It appears to have been completely restored at one time, and is just Gorgeous. The stereo has been updated to a modern CD player, that sounds wonderful. It is one of the Nicest examples that I have seen. It runs and drives extremely well and is very tight and solid. We're sure the winning bidder will be just delighted!!!
This is a Wonderful XKE that has had a tremendous amount of love and care put into it over the last 30 years. This is a car that we ALL dream about finding.........These folks were quite fanatical about this car. It was one of their most PRIZED possessions....and it shows everywhere that you look. It took me a while to be able to touch it without feeling guilty. As you will see in the 40 pictures below(you may have to hit refresh a few times to get them all to load, but they are well worth it). This Jag Roadster is almost show quality. Now, it is not without fault, It is 30 years old, and is not perfect.....BUT..... It is one of the NICEST XKE V-12 Series III Roadsters that you will find!!!
This is EXACTLY the way that we purchased this wonderful car. As mentioned above, it looks like it has had a fairly major restoration done on it at one time in the not so distant past. We have no documentation on any work. It just LOOKS like it has been done. I have NOT done any service, or inspection. We have had the oil and filter changed, due to long term storage. We have also just installed a new soft top. The one that was on the car when we purchased it had a tear on the left side. This seems to be a common issue. This one has never been lowered since installation.
I have driven it about 20 miles or so. As expected it is sheer heaven to drive, and performs beautifully. The only thing that I noticed is that the brakes pulsate a little. Probably from sitting. They may clean up, and smooth out after some use. It should be ready to be loved and enjoyed by the next lucky owner.
The exterior colour is called "Signal Red", and is magnificent!! The paint is bright and shiny. I see no signs of previous damage, and of course no rust is present. There are photos below of the sills, which are just like they were 30 years ago. I did notice a small dent on the top of the left bumper end. Also some of the chrome is not as bright as you may expect, although it shines nicely, and has no pits. This 1974 Jaguar V-12 makes a grand appearance and causes a commotion wherever it goes. This car draws more attention than almost ANY car on the road today(including my Rolls Royce Corniche). The XKE is one of the most notable sports cars ever conceived, and is ever increasing in value. I would consider it an exotic at a VERY affordable price, that will be a great investment.
The interior is beautiful Biscuit leather. It looks like it was replaced during restoration, including the carpets, and makes a Lovely appearance. The headrests are in great condition as well, and do not need "restuffed". The dash and gauges are in very nice condition, and they all appear to be in proper working order, with the exception of the clock. The Eclipse AM FM Stereo CD has just been installed, and sounds just great. One of the A/C vents is missing it's vanes. As you will see in the photos below, the interior is close to new, and shows extremely well.
This beautiful XKE V-12 OTS has just been purchased from a private collection. It starts with ease and runs super. It is a Fabulous Example and will certainly be cherished by the lucky New owner. This wonderful Jaguar XKE is just Gorgeous, and is ready to be driven and enjoyed for many years to come.
Please realize that you are bidding on a vehicle that is THIRTY years old. I have spent A LOT of time with this car and have tried to describe it as accurately as I possibly can. The more that I look at it the nicer it gets. If I have left something out, or you need more info, please don't hesitate to ask. I will be as prompt and thorough as I can in my replies. As with all collector cars this Fabulous 1974 XKE V-12 Roadster is being sold without any warranty. It has a clean Pa. title that reads actual mileage. Thanks for your interest. Good Luck and Happy Bidding.
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is: UE1S23722BW

Car returns to ebay 11/22/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5-3L-V12-ROADSTER-72K-ACTUAL-MILES-PS-PB-TELESCOPIC-/280 ...
Car has a buy it now price of $47,595 for 17 days. Car now said to be in Charlotte, North Carolina. 72k miles.
Sellers description:
This bright red 1974 Series III convertible delivers everything that its looks promise in a fashion that is uniquely British. By 1974, the E-Type had grown, and was more of a grand touring machine than corner-carving sports car, but that's exactly the right place for it to live. This one has been carefully maintained over the years and restored as necessary, wearing classic Signal Red over a tan leather interior. It's easy to spot cars that have never been rusty or damaged, because their enormous bonnets fit well and the doors open and close easily, just as they do on this roadster. The paint offers great gloss that draws attention to the length of the front end and the curvaceous rear fenders, and few cars are better at attracting a crowd than this one. The chrome is very good, including the grille and bumpers, although the federally mandated rubber overriders don't do the styling any favors. Rich tan hides fill the cabin with smells that others like Lexus have tried to duplicate, but never quite managed to succeed. The buckets are firm and supportive, and show very little wear aside from what the British refer to as "comfort marks" on the driver's seat cushion. Matching wool carpets have been fitted and their edges are bound with more tan leather. Handsome Smiths gauges are a British icon, and they're all functional, including the tachometer which offers a surprising 6500 RPM redline. More E-Type charm comes from the center stack with an array of rocker switches, auxiliary gauges, and a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit down low. The delicate shifter for the automatic transmission seems out of place in a car with this much performance, but somehow it fits the car's personality perfectly. The 5.3 liter V12 was designed with Americans in mind, and its long legs and effortless torque make the E-Type an ideal long-distance cruiser. They're also surprisingly reliable, and even with those side-draft carburetors, easy for the skilled hobbyist to tune properly. The big cat just loafs along at normal highway speeds, but jabbing the accelerator results in a massive rush of torque and the most spine-tingling exhaust note this side of a Ferrari. The all-independent suspension perfectly balances handling and ride, and the Jag is equally at home on the interstate or a twisting mountain road. Inboard disc brakes were a Jaguar tradition left over from racing, and brilliant chrome wire wheels are period perfect.
