SELLER WRITES: I searched long and hard for an XKE this great looking with such low miles. Then I spent much of the past three years making it run as great as it looks. Now I need another project and you can enjoy the fruits of my labor. This car has 43,500 original miles, new interior, new top, brakes and paint. She may not be PERFECT. But she is NEAR PERFECT. And the judges agreed because she just won 2nd in Class in a 450 car Arizona show. The only imperfections I am aware of are a small amount of delamination/fogging around the edges of the windshield as shown in the photo, a slight oil leak from the oil pan drain plug, and a cosmetically rough chrome wire wheel on the spare. When I bought the car from a collector dealer, it came with records showing that the engine had been overhauled at about 25,000 miles, balanced, blueprinted, and dyno tested at 325 HP. Regrettably, those papers were lost when we moved. My repairs to every system of this car are numerous. Additionally, I have overhauled the carburetors, replaced the electronic ignition, spark plugs, wires, and battery in the last six months. The tires are like new, the car runs great and the AC is cold. You would be lucky to find a collector car that looks this great, much less with the low mileage. This superb car comes with an owners manual, shop manual, car cover and more sex appeal than anything on the road today.

The 'UD' chassis prefix confirms that this OTS model, with manual gearbox and matching numbers, began life on the US market in 1973. It remained there until 2009, before returning to Europe through its current owner, who has kept it from 2010 until the present day.

It was restored 20 years ago, retaining the original colour scheme, and is now in good condition. Inside and out, the equipment is very well maintained. This is a particularly remarkable and driveable example of the ultimate GT car of the 70s.

Like the venerable XK engine that preceded it, Jaguar's new V12 was designed to perform just as well on the Hunaudières straight at Le Mans as it did down the motorway to Cannes. In road use, this famous block mainly found its way under the bonnet of the British firm's new XJ saloon, but to test it before going into production, and to resolve quality problems, it was initially installed under the bonnet of the E-Type.

In this configuration, the planned fuel injection was replaced by a quartet of more reliable Stromberg carburettors. This was enough to deliver 266bhp to the wheels. This was not much of a change from previous 6-cylinder cars, but the new engine was not really intended to provide an extra boost of power, but rather to affect the way it was delivered.

The 3 Series is revered by enthusiasts for its engine, which is one of the greatest blocks of the twentieth century. A check of the VIN records against the photographs confirms that this car has matching numbers and appears to retain its factory specification.
