Listed for sale for $59,900 at www.grautogallery.com. "It is no secret that we love original and interesting cars and this wonderfully original, two owner, low mile 1972 Jaguar E-Type roadster offers the excellence in originality and mechanical fitness. The car was sold new by Koch Inc. Sports Car Forum of Columbus Ohio in June 1972 and has remained in the hands of the second owner since 1976 where he used it as a summer driver until our recent acquisition. This spirited car is powered by its numbers matching original 5.3 liter V12 engine, 4 speed manual transmission, driven by the rear wheels, and optioned with air conditioning. It also features independent coil spring rear suspension with torsion bar front end and 4 wheel disc brakes. Today at just 48586 original miles remains all original including its Pale Primrose original paint over its original black leather interior, original wire wheels, original chassis, original convertible top and original underside. The car has an amazing core structure as it was never driven in bad weather. Mechanically the car remains excellent as the long time second owner was a driving enthusiast. It has a great service history being only serviced by two local specialty shops here in Grand Rapids and all electrical equipment is in order. As a result of responsible ownership, routine driving habits and proper maintenance, the car has never needed to be completely taken apart resulting in a wonderful driving experience. The car fires right up every time at the turn of the key, the V12 engine sings through the RPMs, the power pulls strong in every gear, the steering remains responsive, the suspension tight and the car delivers great feedback to the driver as a true sports roadster should. The car has an amazing core structure, loads of character and the perfect amount of patina.
From 1961 to 1974, the E-type dominated the sports car market with high performance and amazing style. Its featured on many lists of top cars of all time. The New York Museum of Modern Art recognized the significance of the styling of the XKE with a display of a roadster (one of just six vehicles to ever earn the distinction). These cars are red hot in the collector car world and values continue to soar. Quality original examples such as this are extremely hard to come by and offer many options for the next owner as a collectible, a driver or a complete example to restore to it's original glory. The car comes complete with original owner's hand book, passport to service book, emission control pamphlet, US safety regulations pamphlets, wiring diagram, maintenance chart, portfolio, a host of service history back to 1974, original jack, hammer and knock off tool and full size wire wheel spare.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
