Sellers description:
1971 Etype Roadster 5.3 liter V-12, Date of Manufacture; July 16, 1971, Vin # 1 S 20042BW, Engine no. 7S 3334 SA, Body no. 10135, black hood (top), current mileage 61,250, Period radio, all books and records as well as tools." We are delighted, to once again be able to offer one of the most rare and remarkable Jaguars ever built. This 1971 (not a misprint) V-12 Roadster, one of only 86 left drive, 317 FACTORY HORSEPOWER roadsters ever built. This is the 42nd one produced in that year. Jaguar was concentrating on their newly introduced 2+2 coupes, making less than 90 of the roadsters that first year of the V12. Obviously equipped with the small good- looking bumpers, the true significance is that it was only in 1971 that the V12 power-plant was producing 317 amazing horse power. In brilliant Silver with Black hides and wire wheels and automatic transmission. She has no air however. A California car, restored to perfection ten years ago off the shores of San Francisco, and kept that way these past nine years in Cologne, Germany by a very dear friend of Doc's Jags. This a fabulous show car, rotisserie restored to absolute perfection and still looking every bit as she did the day she was finished. I have had the pleasure to drive her a few years ago in Germany. Owned by a former President of the Jaguar Club of Germany and a former VP at Ford Motors Germany, now retired. Price: $97,500

I owned this car from 1988 to 1992. A dealer had tried to export the car illegally and it was caught and held in San Francisco. The owner of the shipping company purchased the car and I bought it from him. It was a nice original driver. Over the next two years I restored the car to Concours condition. It won numerous awards. I changed the interior to Black, it was originally red. Otherwise everything was kept original. The car was sold to a person in Chicago, he also purchased car #49. He did a few things to it and I heard it won JCNA National. Last I heard it was sold to a man in Germany who was in charge of the European Jag Club.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
