Car was at auction 4/11

Auction description:
Lot Number: 60
1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster
Not Sold
Reg Number: TVT 9L
Chassis Number: 1S1669
Engine Number: 7S9676-SA
Cc: 5300
Body Colour: Red
Trim Colour: Black
MOT ExpiryDate: May 2011
The V12 Roadster offered was constructed in 1973 and features Red coachwork and a Black leather interior. The vendor sat in the car as a boy, knows its full history and has owned it for the last 21 years. The Jaguar was apparently treated to a bare metal respray in 1994 by Rolls-Royce specialists Scott Moncrieff. A very thorough engine overhaul ensued in 2003 (at a cost of £16,700), since when the unit has run for just 360 miles. We understand the XJ12 wheels were specified by the original owner. The only other non-standard items are the SU carburetters that replaced the original Zenith Stromberg items. We're informed that all body panels are original and, though it looks like a private plate, the registration number, `TVT 9L', is the one that came with the car. The E-Type has apparently been kept under cover in a garage and never used in the rain by its current keeper. It is now offered complete with original service book, owner's pack and most of the old MOTs. This very tidy, original car is taxed until the end of October and MOT'd into May.

Car to be at auction 7/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auction description:
Lot 138 - 1973 Jaguar E Type V12 Roadster
Estimate: £48,000 - £55,000
Registration Number: TVT 9L
Chassis Number: 1S1669
This V12 Roadster is described by the vendor as being a very genuine car which, very uncommonly, has been in the ownership of the same group of enthusiasts since new. The car has been with the vendor for the last 21 years; prior to that it was owned by his best friend, who was given it by his father. The original owner is also known to the current vendor, and allowed him to sit in this very car as a 12 year old boy in 1973.
He informs us that the car is in very good condition, having been subject to a complete engine rebuild in 2003 costing £16,700 and has covered only 430 miles since. The bodywork is all original and the car had a bare metal re-spray in 1994 by one of the finest body shops in England, Scott Moncrieffs of Staffordshire, who specialised in Bentley and Rolls Royce restorations, so the paint quality is of the highest standard. We are informed that the car has never seen rain for the last 21 years and is kept under cover in a garage; the tyres are virtually new and the chrome work is in excellent condition.
The only modification to the car is the replacement of the Zenith Stromberg carburetors with SUs but of course the original sets of Zeniths are supplied with the car.
A comprehensive history and documentation including MoT's dating back to 1976 along with the original service book and owners pack as well as the V5 document, large file of bills and photographic record of the engine rebuild are supplied with the car. This car is a very original example with all matching numbers and features the original body panels as well as its original registration number which is included in the sale.
Appealingly finished in the classic E type livery of Signal Red with a black leather interior this splendid example is without doubt well up the rankings of the most genuine E types in the UK, and a fantastically stylish and eminently useable entry into the enviable world of classic Jaguar ownership.
