Ebay item 11/12/11

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Jaguar-XK-E-Roadster-11-700-actual-miles-stored-25- ...

Current bid $26,660 reserve not met, 7 bids 9 days left in auction, Portland, Oregon.

Sellers description:

1969 Jaguar XKE Roadster

The car you're looking at is a 1969 4.2 Type 2 roadster with 11,000 actual miles! This stunning convertible had originally been purchased by a gentleman from Bloomfield, Michigan and was subsequently sold through Hemmings Motor news to a buyer from Oregon in 1985. It was parked in a heated garage for the next 25 years before being sold to a classic car store in Portland, Oregon and is now in our possession. The Willow green paint and black leather interior are original and gives the design added flair. We have given this car a thorough re-commissioning which entailed an overhaul of the cooling, fuel and brake systems. The E-Type is celebrating its 50th anniversary and this car pays the perfect complement to its existence.

Car to be at auction 2/12

www.bonhams.com/usa/auction/19680/lot/358/

Auction description:

Sale 19680 - The Scottsdale Sale, 19 Jan 2012

Arizona, Scottsdale

Lot No: 358

Approximately 11,000 miles from new, incredibly well-preserved

1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2-Liter Series 2 Roadster

Chassis no. 1R8626

Engine no. 7R 4387-9

*4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine

*150 mph performance

*Four-speed manual transmission

*The world's greatest crumpet catcher

*Remarkably preserved example

*Desirable rarely seen color

*Approximately 11,000 miles from new

Presented here is quite possibly the finest preserved Series II E-Type Roadster Bonhams has ever had the pleasure of offering. Chassis number '1R8626' was delivered in the striking and rarely seen shade of Willow Green, and was purchased new by Jack Kaufman of Bloomfield, Michigan. He drove the car rarely, and in 1985 advertised it for sale in Hemmings; it was then sold to Norm Fogelstrom of Creswell, Oregon, who kept the Jaguar in his garage and, with an eye towards preservation, never drove it. That is how, upon acquisition by the vendor in June 2011, this Jaguar had covered only approximately 11,000 miles from new. The E-Type retains its original paint, interior, glass, top, wheels, and even tires. Because the car sat for 26 years, the vendor took care to service the cooling system, fuel tank, carburetors, and brakes as needed. Here is a quite possibly unrepeatable chance to acquire an E-Type Roadster in one of the most desirable colors produced, a shoe-in for the Preservation Class at most any Concours d'Elegance. It will surely afford its new owner the pride of ownership that only a truly original example of the marque is capable of.

Estimate: US$110,000 - 140,000

Sold for US$97,500 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Presented here is quite possibly the finest preserved Series II E-Type Roadster ever offered for sale. Chassis number '1R8626' was delivered in the striking and rarely seen shade of Willow Green. This car was purchased new by Jack Kaufman of Bloomfield, Michigan. He drove the car rarely, and in 1985 advertised it for sale in Hemmings Motor News. It was then sold to the second owner Norm Fogelstrom of Creswell, Oregon, who kept the Jaguar in his garage and, with an eye towards preservation, never drove it. The third owner acquired the car in January of 2012 with 11,000 miles and put 2,522 miles on it in 8 years of ownership. The E-Type retains its original paint, interior, glass, top, wheels, and even tires. Because the car sat for 27 years, the vendor took care to service the cooling system, fuel tank, carburetors, and brakes as needed.
