This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was brought to Canada from the US following its acquisition by the seller in 1985. The car spent a number of years in storage prior to undergoing a refurbishment between 2010 and 2012 that included a repaint, a refresh of the interior, and a replacement soft top, along with a rebuild of the replacement 4.2-liter inline-six,and overhauls of the suspension and rear end. The four-speed manual gearbox was rebuilt in 2021, and additional equipment includes 15” Dayton wire wheels, a RetroSound stereo, polyurethane suspension bushings, Boge front and Girling rear shocks, and PerTronix electronic ignition. This XKE is now offered with records from current ownership and Alberta registration in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in dark red and was repainted in 2012 following the completion of rust repair in the passenger floor, which included replacement of a front crossmember. Additional work included welding in the antenna mounting hole, repairing dents in the windshield cowl, addressing previous bodywork in the front left corner, and metal repairs of the left and right rocker panels, right headlight pocket, and lower passenger door. The brightwork was re-chromed at that time and the windshield, door glass, and weatherstripping were replaced. A tan Stayfast top and boot cover were also fitted. A paint flaw on the hood is noted by the seller, and additional imperfections include a repaired rock chip in the windshield, sagging trunk springs, and tailpipes that have been cut at different angles. The top is reportedly not weathertight. The seller reports that paint correction has been performed in preparation for the sale.

The 15” Dayton knock-off wire wheels were installed in 2013 and mounted with 205/70 Yokohama Avid Ascend tires. A full-size spare is found in the trunk. The four-wheel disc brakes feature inboard-mounted rear units and were overhauled and fitted with stainless-steel lines during the refurbishment. A crack on the rear subframe was also repaired at that time, and the front suspension crossmember was straightened. Additional work included installing Boge front and Girling rear shocks along with polyurethane suspension bushings.

The bucket seats were fitted with replacement foam and reupholstered in beige leather during the refurbishment. A replacement dash pad was also installed, along with a remote-operated RetroSound stereo and retractable three-point seat belts. The heater motor was repaired in 2021. Abrasions and tears on the upholstery are shown up close in the gallery below. The seller states that the hood release catch is missing and the radio volume knob and analog clock are not functional. The dash light switch was replaced in preparation for the sale.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer, a suite of auxiliary displays, and a 160-mph speedometer that was rebuilt in 2016 and fitted with a replacement cable the following year. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 87k miles, around 15k of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was installed during previous ownership and was rebuilt in 2011 by Sovereign Automotive of Edmonton, Alberta. Work included boring and re-sleeving the cylinders, resurfacing the block, polishing the crankshaft, and installing 9:1 compression pistons. A PerTronix electronic ignition system has been added, and the dual SU carburetors were serviced in 2017. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

The four-speed manual gearbox was fitted with a replacement clutch kit and lightened flywheel in the early 2000s and was rebuilt in 2021 by Miles Import Car Repair of Edmonton, Alberta. The work involved replacement of the layshaft and first gear assembly as well as the synchro rings and bearings. The rear end was rebuilt in 2010.

Photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment are included.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a country and province that does not issue titles for road vehicles. It is being sold with its Alberta registration.
