I bought this car in 2018. It was an abandonded restoration, about 70% completed. Records show it was sold in Ontario in 1970, and had 1 owner before me. It's not known why the engine and gearbox were exchanged.

Ebay item 7/1/18
www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Jaguar-E-Type/163126725404
Opening bid US $35,000, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction, seller dadsfarm4w9s, 15k miles.

Sellers description:
No reserve. This Jaguar was an abandoned restoration, when the owner fell ill. About $60,000 was spent to get the car this far; about 70% completed. Mileage is likely 115, 604

The body has been mostly restored, to a high standard. The frame rails and tub were dipped. The engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes system have been restored. An entirely new wiring harness has been installed.

The car requires a complete interior, bonnet finishing, new top, tires, windscreen, small parts and paint.

Receipts for parts totalling $35,000 include; rebuilt engine, gearbox, suspension, wiring harness, body panels, clutch, stainless exhaust, lines, hoses etc. Labour was another $29,000

The engine runs perfectly, and sounds a sweet as you could ask for.

Known missing parts are: clutch master cylinder, RH outside door handle, shift knob, tools and jack, inside door armrest, 1 window winder, radio, firewall throttle linkage, one door top chrome. There may be other parts missing.

The engine and gearbox are not original to the car, but are period-correct E Type numbered items. The data plate is stamped:

Car: 1R7225
Engine 7R-1432-9 originally, now has 7R-91379-9 in the car.
Gearbox KE2844 originally, now has KE 133393 in the car.
Body # 4R-1264

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
