This cat lives in the country, in a garage, far from the madding crowd (and bad roads). It is enjoyable to drive in the spring, summer and fall, and on cold clear dry days in winter along the quiet spectacular meandering backroad byways of the Pacific Northwest countryside.

Details of car
Engine/transmission/exhaust
Clean as a whistle outside & inside.
XK Unit 4.2 Liter/Litre six cylinder twin overhead camshaft, with twin Stromberg carburetors/carburetters and 4-speed manual transmission.
The oil in this engine is kept as clear and clean as a newly opened bottle of 20/50 Castrol/GTX.
Phosphate-free antifreeze coolant runs through a new core radiator that keeps the water temperature indicator in the comfort zone even when soaring hills to the 6,000-foot altitude and beyond.
Electronic ignition, removal of the secondary butterflies and a set of well-balanced Strombergs have improved performance, lessening the urge to convert to triple SUs. This retains originality and avoids deduction of points for non-authenticity items in concours competition.
A stainless steel exhaust system was fitted in 2001.
Interior Clean as a whistle from top to bottom.
Leather seats, floors and overhead liner are in very good condition. A set of custom-made floor mats protects the fitted carpets and keeps them in mint condition for concours, as does a set of lambs wool seat covers for the driver and front passenger seats. A fitted mat protects the luggage floor and runners.
Includes an original Blaupunkt Model CR-4072 then state of the art AM/FM radio with built-in cassette tape player/recorder and Dictaphone. This is the only one of its kind I have seen in an E Type.
Body Clean as a whistle from front to back & top to bottom.
This car has very special lines and shows well at concours. Some rubber seals have recently been replaced and the chrome shines well. Doors, bonnet (hood) and tailgate (rear hatch) all have good alignment and windows are unblemished. The undercarriage of the car has been covered with protective undercoating.
Tyres/Tires & Wheels Clean as a whistle front to back.
All five tyres are Michelin X 185 R 15 with 3/8 inch red walls fitted in 2000. The four on the car have 6,719 miles of use. The spare has never been used. All five wheels are in good condition, highly polished, balanced and fit snug to the splined hubs.
Summary
This car has been restored with the emphasis on originality and authenticity. It is well cared for and the proof of this is confirmed in its outstanding performance in JCNA Concours d Elegance competition.
The engine is in immaculate condition both in operating performance and appearance. It runs well and is cranked up at least every month of the year to lubricate things.
Clutch, gears and the transmission all work well, the car breaks well and the suspension and front-end alignment are in very good condition. All lights are functional, and the windshield wipers have not been used in five years, but they do work.
The interior and exterior have been kept in clean and like-new condition and protected (car & seat covers & mats) from the elements-of both natural and human origins.
The gas tank has been kept full, especially in the fall, winter & spring months with less road use-no condensation and no rust.
The instrument panel functions well and the dash clock was overhauled and cleaned in 2003.
There is very little that may need to be done to this car except:
A drop of freon R12 in the A/C if you need air conditioning.
The left speaker grill for the AM/FM radio is slightly damaged.
The radio tunes but the frequency bar indicator does not move consistently.
In conclusion, this cat purrs uttering a low, continuous murmuring sound expressive of satisfaction, as do all well kept cats, and its a joy to drive!
