This Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 2+2 FHC is a well-presented example of the iconic sporting classic, which is offered in a particularly handsome colour scheme.

It is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre inline-six, delivering around 265bhp and 283lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.

The five-digit odometer displays 6,050 miles and is understood to have ‘rolled over’ once. This would make the car’s total mileage 106,050 miles, however this is not warranted.

Reported to have been supplied new to the USA, this left-hand drive example was imported to Sweden in 2006, since which it has had two private owners. It is now offered via the trade.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This left-hand drive E-Type is finished in green over a beige leather-trimmed interior.

The exterior has a period-correct appearance, with chrome front and rear bumpers, and the car rides on 15-inch wheels with chrome caps shod in Michelin all-season tyres.

Inside, the car features the correct seats, plus a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a full complement of Smiths instrument gauges and dash-mounted rocker switches.

It will be accompanied by a history folder, and its Swedish registration document.

CONDITION

The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults.

SERVICE HISTORY

The seller notes that the car has recently been inspected by classic car specialist Motikon, and is reported to be in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
