'TTT 698H' is a lefthand drive, manual gearbox, matching numbers Coupe that was sold new by the main agents in New York and repatriated by the vendor 14 years ago, prior to which it had been resprayed in its original colour of Sable. Though still sound, the vendor considers the body could now do with some attention in places. The following new auxiliary items have been added in recent times: a brake hose, battery and stainless steel exhaust system. The Beige-coloured interior, however, is apparently original. Currently used circa once a week, the Jaguar could happily continue as it is or form the basis of a cosmetic restoration. It is being offered complete with a file itemising the work done by the two owners Stateside, the import paperwork, all the MOTs since it came to the UK, and a Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Certificate. 'TTT 698H' is both taxed and MOT'd until July next year.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
