    Ebay item 6/30/11
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-FHC-Rust-free-California-car-Not-2-2-/290582796031
Current bid $9,999 reserve not met, 13 bids 6 days left in auction. 66k miles.

    Sellers description:
This Jaguar has been in my family since 1989. I have the old California pink slip (title) in hand, and it's ready to be signed over to a new owner. The title is clear. The car is not registered and hasn't been since 1989. The car has always been in California and stored in a closed garage, never outside. It ran when purchased and has been kept running and driven 1 or 2 times a years since I've owned it. It's wearing it's original color (pale primrose) and has been repainted once, back in the early 80's.

    The good...
    All the numbers are matching.

The car is complete and SOLID.

The car has no rust. The pictures show a rusty area and a hole (under the car, below the drivers door). It's light topical rust and nothing to speak of. The hole is where a screw is missing.

It's a strong runner with no oil leaks or noises out of the ordinary.

New freeze plugs, clutch plate and throw-out bearings installed.

Flywheel resurfaced and rear end dropped and inspected.

Transmission and clutch work very smoothly.

Carbs were recently cleaned and all new gaskets and seals installed (rebuild kit).

All the instruments and gauges work.

All exterior and interior lights are working (accept the map light). Even the dimmer is working.

Brakes are working well (though slightly soft on first use of brake pedal).

Comes with a new spare head gasket and new weather stripping and rubber (not installed).

Original fuel pump is still installed and working great.

    Heater and fan work.

Working wipers and washer (need new blades).

    Both horns go "BEEP!".

    Does not overheat.

    The ladies love it.

    Now the less-than-good...
The tires have flat spots from sitting, which gives it a circus mobile feel as it goes down the road. They need replacing.

The bonnet (front-left bumper) was backed into at a very low speed and has knocked it out of alignment ( by former owner). Apparently this is a common problem and it doesn't take much force to do this. This happened after the repaint and there's no sign of anything happening to the front bonnet, but the rear of the bonnet dinged the paint (in front of the drivers door) where it meets the body. The bonnet still latches shut but it needs to be realigned. See pictures

Driver's door has several small dings from other car doors.

The fan switch for the radiator has been by-passed (by former owner) and the fans are now turned on with the ignition . The radiator switch and wiring are still there but have been disconnected. Easily put back to original.

The tachometer doesn't work well when the fan is on. When I disconnect the fans, the tachometer works perfectly. I can't figure this one out...let's chalk it up to English electronics.

The clock has been replaced with a manifold vacuum gauge.

The seats look to be upholstered in vinyl and the rear boot in black carpeting.

Cigarette lighter doesn't work!!! Oh no!

Radio lights up and makes static noises but doesn't receive. Antenna problems maybe?

I don't know enough about the SZ carbs to get this thing to idle perfectly.

The paint is faded and tired.

The wheels and knock-offs have rust, but I've seen miracles worked on them with brass brushes and 0000 steel wool.

The bumpers (front and back) have pitted chrome.

The custom 'banana man' in center console is a splendid addition to the interior of the car (gag) but not original

Car was close to "Nice Driver" condition when rear ended in February 2014. The tub will require alignment and rear sheet metal repair, plus new paint, of course.
