    Now offered at:

    Sellers description:
    1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 FHC

This top class Jaguar E-Type Series II FHC is a matching numbers car still finished in its original colour of Regency Red. The car was manufactured on the 26th March 1969 and has covered 82,000 miles from new with a well documented history. The original service book accompanies the car detailing Resnik Motors Inc in Manchester, New Hampton supplying the car to its first owner, Dr W T Belger.

A fairly comprehensive US 1980's history also companies the E-Type and in 1989 the car was purchased by a private owner in Buckinghamshire who registered the car in the UK for the first time. The E-Type was subject of a RHD conversion and some restoration work on initial arrival in the UK and it was in regular use right throughout the 1990's and 2000's covering 10,000 miles. In 2011 the E-Type changed hands and was then subject of a two year rebuild, overseen by E-Type expert and Club Technical Director Ken Jenkins. The car was completely dismantled and treated to an engine rebuild (UK spec with high compression pistons) gearbox rebuild and rear axle overhaul and conversion to UK spec, 3.07:1. Triple HD8 SU carburettors were rebuilt and fitted to the car, the Koni shock absorbers were re-used and the handling and grip further enhanced by Aston Martin DB6 chrome wire wheels with 215-65-15 tyres. All mechanical components were replaced or re-conditioned and the car finished to an exceptionally high standard. Whilst the body was stripped down, it was taken on by a Rolls Royce painter for preparation and paint finish and the interior was completely re-trimmed in Barley. Invoices for the work are in the history file, including the engine rebuild by Ken Jenkins.

Since completion of this major restoration, the E-Type has only covered 3000 miles and is in truly exceptional condition. The bodywork is first class with excellent panel gaps and no corrosion issues. The paint finish gleams, chrome work is stunning and the re-trimmed upholstery still looks new, as do the DB6 chrome wires. The underside is top class, the engine bay beautifully detailed and clean, the spare wheel well perfect. On the road RRX 999H is outstanding with a gorgeous, fit engine holding excellent oil pressure and delivering impressive performance. The all syncro four speed gearbox is effortless to use with lovely smooth changes and the rebuilt UK rear axle is just perfect. The E-Type handles with perfection and the brakes are super efficient. The drive is quite simply sublime and is a truly superb experience. RRX 999H is a first class example with matching numbers, is finished in arguably one of the nicest colour combinations and has an exceptional bodyshell, stunning paintwork and trim. This is something very special and has been dismantled and rebuilt to the highest of standards.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
