I messed up and marked this as a 1970 instead of 1969. Also the following description fron the ad got cut off:

- SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CAR -

1969 JAGUAR E TYPE COUPE

'' RUST FREE CALIFORNIA E TYPE COUPE ''

'' HARD TO FIND, SOLID GOLD TO OWN ''

'' THE BEST SPORTS CAR IN THE WORLD FOR THE MONEY ''

JAGUAR E TYPE COUPE, 4.2 LITER, YES THIS IS A CAR OUT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, IT HAS BEEN IN STORAGE, DUE TO A DING IN THE NOSE, AND SOME PAINT WORK BEING DONE, THIS HAS NOT IN ANY WAY AFFECTED THE INTEGRITY OF THE CAR, THE DOOR FIT AND GAPS ARE PERFECT, THE HOOD SHUT LINE THE SAME, EXCELLENT, IT HAS NOT BEEN OFF ITS HINGES, THE WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK AND SHOULD BE REPLACED, THE LEATHER SEATS ARE QUITE NICE, AND THE DASH AND HEADLINER NICE, THE CAR HAS AIR CONDITIONING, FROM THE FACTORY, THE TIRES ARE BRAND NEW, AND THE TRUNK, AS YOU CAN SEE IS PERFECT, THE CAR NEEDS A BATTERY, AND A GOOD SERVICE TO BE UP AND RUNNING, THE CAR COMES COMPLETE, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, IT NEEDS TO BE RESTORED BACK INTO A PROPER CAR AGAIN, THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN COLOR CHANGED, E TYPE COUPES ARE GETTING REALLY HARD TO FIND, SOME PEOPLE PREFER THEM TO A ROADSTER, BECAUSE OF THEIR NICE BODY LINES, THIS IS A PROPER CAR, WITH INTEGRITY, FOR THE ENTHUSIAST, IT WILL MAKE A FANTASTIC INVESTMENT CAR, AND A VALUABLE ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION.

Current bid US $10,100 reserve not met 3 bids 9 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Redondo Beach, California. 33k miles.

Sellers description:
About two months ago an English gentleman came on the lot and asked if I would be interested in his 1969 E Type Jag. He told me that he had purchased the car six years ago with intentions of restoring the car but never got round to doing it. So it was time for him to move on as he was downsizing. He did say that while the car had sat in his possession he did start and drive it occasionally. Being in the car business all my life I did know what I was looking at but was not hundred percent sure of this particular car. After doing research I decided to purchase the car. I will try and go through the complete vehicle from bumper to bumper regarding its condition. Firstly,I did check the engine number against the identification plate and the engine is not the original engine. I replaced the spark plugs and did a compression test which to my surprise, they were all up between 150 to 170 psi. In regards to the mechanics of the car and upon start up, you first need to have the choke on. The car fires up and tends to backfire slightly through the carburetors. As you can see from the photos there are three Weber carburetors, so to synchronize them is somewhat difficult and to adjust them, which I did to the best of my ability. Also on acceleration there is a hesitation coming from the carburetors so one needs to gas the car to get it to go. Once the car is moving the power is excellent and performs quite nicely. There is a little spitting coming from the carburetors on de-acceleration. The ignition system has been changed to electronic ignition and the unit has been mounted under the carburetors - not the smartest place! Once again on start up there is no smoke at all from the tail pipe. The clutch is responsive and the manual transmission shifts smoothly and the car brakes pretty well. The two cooling fans do come on when they are needed and the engine stays at normal running temperature. All the interior gauges work which include the speedometer, the rpm, the battery gauge, the oil pressure and temperature and gas gauges and even the clock. The pictures of the gauges show the car idling and the oil pressure being at where it should be. The wipers also work but not sure what happened to the button. The lights for some reason are not working and I did not got into trying to find the fault, I will leave it for the new owner. The car did come with air conditioning, so the a/c unit is there but has no belt and I am not sure what it would take to get it to work. I do have the original carburetors and intake manifold that will go with the car ( pictured ). As far as the exterior/body,which is extremely straight and has very minimal surface rust issues. Also please be aware that the paint is dull and would need a repaint. All the body panels fit extremely well and the car does not appear to have been in any major accidents. I have the pictures of the frame rails which show them to be untouched, including the hood and the nose section of the hood. There is a dent in the rear tailgate also pictured. I did try and show the underside of the car and so you can see that the floors are very solid - there is some surface rust on the suspension front and rear and the control arm bushings are worn. The exhaust system is all intact but the rear has been tied up with wire as the mount is broken. All the exterior chrome work is there but most of the pieces do have some surface pitting and surface rust. All the "knock off" wire wheels are in decent shape and a few of the spokes do have a little amount of surface rust. All the tires have good tread but the right front is cracking. All the glass in the car is in good shape. I do have to emphasize, that the car does have some surface rust, but it is only on the surface. In conclusion, hoping I haven't left anything out, this car is an excellent candidate for restoration.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
