Ebay item 6/4/08

Current bid $18,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE coupe. This car was purchased eight years ago and shipped to Houston, Texas where I restored it to the condition you see in the pictures. The speedometer reads 33,100 miles and is 800 miles more than when I received shipment eight years ago. But, at the time I was told the engine had rings put in sometimes before I cared for it so I really have no way of verifying the miles. Only know how it runs and what I've done with it over the last eight years.
An air conditioner (under dash) was added about four years ago. Since the car is rarely used, the AC works like new.
My Jaguar mechanic has kept this 4.2 inline 6 cylinder in perfect condition. It has proven to be what it is supposed to be: the most reliable of all E-type engines. The only things done to it over the past eight years is regular fluid changes and tuning, one alternator and one Weber carburetor kit when the car had sat unused too long.
The tires were replaced a year after arrival to provide additional balance and road stability per Jaguar blog recommendations and all four tires have a total of about 800 miles since that time (obviously, the car is rarely used).
At four years into the journey, I had the car taken down to the metal and all rust or suspicions of rust sealed, fixed, welded etc. and the entire car professionally re-painted to its original color.
It was purchased as a driving car, not a show car, so while it would show well, some aspects do not permit award winning competition entry. An example would be the seats were taken from a 1970 or 1971 Jaguar XKE I am told and I would think, on close inspection, some parts are not original to this specific car like need be in a first place winning vehicle. I for one purchased the top of the air filter can from a Jaguar parts dealer in Houston. Never bothered to look for serial numbers on the top but this and the alternator is not original to the car for sure.
If you wanted an XKE that is show quality but for driving and using in town and on the road, this is the car for you. Just pull the choke and turn the key.
The radio could use replacement (it is not a factory installed radio) since today’s sound quality is much better than when this one was installed over ten years ago. Besides, this car’s stereo only permits cassette cartridges. Also, the Jaguar clock on the dash is in great visual condition but does not work. I think that’s a small fix from a clock repair store but one I never took care of myself.
If you want the best of the XKE series and the easiest of the transmissions to work (my Jaguar repairman can shift all four speeds using the Tachometer and not the clutch) this car will draw attention, need not much more than a car wash after transport and provide years of fun on the road.
