Family owned for about 30 years. Husband was Jaguar Enthusiast, Technician & Restorer, Unique Body Style, Iconic Sports Car, Racing Heritage, Red, Chrome Wires.

Owners husband was very involved for years in the restoration and repairing of many various models including XJ6 and XJS Jaguars. This XKE was lovingly restored as a personal keeper. He had worked with various professional friends and associates over the years including the owner of Layland Motors. Layland assisted him on this XKE and other projects and performed the XKE’s latest services in early 2024. Owner believes husband purchased sometime in early to mid 90’s. Completion of restoration was around 2007 and soon after he passed. Appears to be a restoration with engine and trans removal performed.

No photos or receipts could be located. Most recent servicing includes among other items, 4 calipers, 4 tires, fluids check, cooling system flush & test, Clutch fluid flush, replace master cylinder & booster, oil & filter change, compression test, various other services, ( see invoice) & test driven by Layland owner. All completed to assure reliability and safety. Invoice total was $10,156.93 Title shows “original” miles but of course can’t be confirmed or guaranteed as family didn’t own the 1st 20 years.

Heritage Trust Certificate #74947 (recently acquired from England 5-1-24), and photos confirm vehicle still has the engine, gear box, chassis, that it was born with. Body number tag not located but you can see the original darker Regency Red color behind center dash gauges and the chassis number located on drivers side pillar

Paint

Expertly prepared refinish is very smooth, highly polished and reflective with obvious attention to detail (see pics at various angles)

No over spray found or other indications of anything other then believe being disassembled for restoration / Appears owner did chose to leave front and rear windows in place vrs removal and possible damage

We do not find any apparent scratches in the finish / Red color seems to match well on all panels

We do not see imperfections that appear in the finish with the exception of a couple near the rear and wiper area / (see pics) between rear window and gas filler and slightly below antenna grommet

Performed by husband and nephew in Bright Red / per nephew who also indicated it is a base coat / clear coat in GM code 81

Slight nick found bottom of drivers door

Body

Appears expertly prepared prior to receiving new finish

Body panels all are straight and almost could be considered lazer straight which is probable better then when E-Types were produced new / See all of the pictures taken at angles, just as you would when inspecting.

Gaps in all painted body components seem consistent and similar. (See individual pics)

I could not find any dents or creases anywhere on the red body panels

Magnetic Paint Gauge

All red body panels showed positive pull indicting Steel construction (including rockers)

All material measurements (paint & other) were in the over 14 thousands depth range (maximum we can measure) This seems typical of extremely straight, steel bodied restored cars.

It would be our best guess that there might have been some reconstruction of the rear wheel well and rocker area at sometime.

Bright work

All bright work appears to be securely fastened to the car and has good reflective properties

Some show more wear and age then others

Moldings surrounding the front and rear window are shiny and show minimum wear. There are two-twin small holes in frt molding top placed equal distance from outside edge

Drip moldings, headlamp surrounds, wiper arms, and front and rear bumpers are all not perfect but not much age and wear. (frt bumper scratches on top)(rear bumper chrome issue near rt bumper guard)

Beading running down both sides of fenders appears pretty much flawless

Side window surrounds, and door handles show slight pitting and slightly more showing on rear tail light surrounds

Drivers side drip molding has two small dents along the edge

Glass

Glass all appears very clear with little wear and with no delamination, discoloring, bulls eyes, cracks, or wiper wear.

All side glass (A52) as well as rear glass (M25) have the TRIPLEX logo and appear tinted.

Windshield has DUPLAT PPG logo

Top portion of drivers & pass window each have a few light outside vertical scratches maybe 3-4” long. Slightly more on drivers side (see pics)

Interior

Not all original -(that was born with) Appears as possible combination of well cared for original and near original replacement (see pics)

New leather seating area installed during restoration

Showing minimal wear overall with seat panels, door and side panels, headliner, and carpeting

Dash shows well with minimal wear and gauges fairly clear.

Radio is a more modern AM-FM Cassette Dolby sound style with side speaker design

Auxiliary wiring located at rear of drivers seat / no knowledge of use and appears as older.

Note – Interior panels and seats are of a black coloring but as typical, light conditions give it more of a bluish cast in some photos. Also on drivers flooring you will see some loose fibers on carpet. These come from the mats shedding and can be vacuumed

Passenger sun visor could not be located and note some scuffing around right side speaker

Cargo Area

Appears in good order with good coloring & materials, hing covers, and two manual luggage stops. (see pics) You will note small wiring running to the rear defog glass

Spare tire is an older P195/75/15 Goodyear Vector mounted on a Chrome wire wheel that is properly held down tight

Jack assembly and cover along with knock off socket included in sale

Jack handle and knock off tool could not be located

Engine bay

Engine and Gearbox numbers match the included Heritage Trust Certificate

Engine area appears to be as originally designed with any maintenance items to appear as original born with items. This or course excludes battery and the windshield washer system was not reinstalled (not uncommon on show vehicles)

Compression test performed in 2024 with each cylinder in the 145-150 range (see Layland Motors document in pics)( 1-150, 2-150, 3-145, 4-150, 5-145, 6-150)

Chassis

Right Front frame rail # matches the included Heritage Trust Certificate / (see pictures & documents)

Underside pics indicate much attention to detail in restoration of individual components including rear suspension and front suspension

We did not see any current indications of rust perforation existing

Rear end doesn’t show leaking on front or side seals

Slight drip bottom of oil pan, slight dampness from front & rear main areas

Mechanical functions and test drive info found on Auto Connection Inc Website

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
