Car was at auction 4/11

Auction description:
Lot No: 141
Manufacturer Jaguar Cars
Model S2 E-type FHC
First Registered 1969
Registration No XPB9G
Engine No 7R2769-9
Chassis No 1R20146
MOT Nov 2011
Colour Gunmetal Grey

Offered here is 1969 S2 FHC, which has known to the vendor for over 21 years. He acquired the car from a friend who had acquired it from his father, so it has not been offered on the open market for over 21years.

XPB 9G was completed on 10 January 1969 and was despatched to Henly's London on 30 January. The vendor was intrigued by the colour of his car as he had never seen a similar example, so he recently obtained a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, which clearly shows that it was finished in Rolls-Royce Pearl Black Metallic. This was a special order specification, making it very rare and the Jaguar clubs do not appear to know of any other examples in the same finish.

The car is said to have covered just 80,600 miles from new. This statement is supported by 30 MOT certificates dating back to 1977 and 43,360 miles. It is said to have always been garaged, been maintained correctly and to be in excellent, original, unmolested condition.

During the vendor's ownership, the car has seen light use on high days and holidays.

Estimate £23,000- 27,000

Hi - I am the new owner of the car. The colour is in fact Rolls Royce Pearl Black. The colour is from new by special order. I know all previous owners except the original 1st owner. The car was sold by Henley's in London.

Anyone who knows more on this car please post. Many thanks

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
