Ebay item 9/25/06

Opening bid $1,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $32,500. 12.5k miles.

Sellers description:
Very nice 1970 Jaguar series 2 roadster in the attractive color combination of Sable with biscuit interior. It comes with chrome wire wheels, manual transmission, air conditioner and a black soft top.

This is one of the last 1970 models made as it has a May, 1970 built date. This is a matching number car, which is very important for the resale value of any XKE. Even if you do not plan to ever to sell the car, it is best to get one where everything matches the way the car left the factory. This Jaguar looks, runs and drives very good.

Body: The body of an XKE is the most important item to check when selecting a car. Mechanical things can be fixed (at a cost) but if the body is rusty or has been in an accident you better have a large home equity loan ... as you will need it. The body of this car is extremely nice. I have yet to find any rust or signs of prior collision damage. The bonnet is also in excellent condition, which is rare on most XKE. The floors are in very good condition as is the trunk floor. The color combination is original to the car.

Interior: The the interior was redone some years ago using the proper materials and pattern and is in very good condition. The black soft top is in very good condition and fits well. All gauges are original and in working order, including the clock, Dash top is in good condition without cracks.

Engine and mechanicals: Car runs great! The engine is the original to the car and the number matches the data plate. Very good oil pressure (40+ psi) and no smoke and no oil leaks The air conditioner blows cold. The tires have about half of their life remaining. Wire wheels are in very good condition. Brakes, power steering, and electrical system are working properly.

Others: Included is the spare tire, owners manual, jack in the bag, knock off hammer and knock off tool, lubrication poster and wiring diagram.

Jaguar e-type series 2 roadsters are great touring cars. The cooling system on the series 2 cars were fitted with dial electric fans which actually work quite well. This particular Jaguar was fitted with a third electric fan in front of the radiator, which comes handy on very hot days when the AC is being used.

Current bid $11,988 reserve not met, 6 bids 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Sellers description:
Super nice Jag. This is not a 100 point show car, but is a real nice car that I drive AND show. The sheet metal is straight including the underside. I have included many pictures to allow you to make your own judgement. The color is unusual, Sable Brown the original color of the car. It has been repainted once I beleive, with a very good looking acrylic enamel. It shines and will get many "nice car man" comments as you drive down the road.

It is a strong running Jag. One of my Jag friends who owns several E-types said it is the best shifting and fastest E-type he has ever driven. It has that Jag only sound, much better than listening to the Alpine stereo in the dash.

Since I have owned it, I have had the valves adjusted, replaced the water pump, replaced all timing chains, replaced one motor mount, replaced the heater control valve, replaced the master cylinder actuator, rebuilt the master cylinder and charged the AC. This work has completed any mechanical issues, allowed for you to be warm on cold days and be cool on hot days. If you want to go down the road with as touch of class, this is the car for you.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
