    Ebay item 5/4/10

Current bid $36,900 reserve not met, 1 bid 3 days left in auction. Car now said to be located in Lincoln, California. 75k miles.

    Sellers description:
Beautiful 1970 Jaguar E-Tpye convertible I bought from a dentist in San Diego (Oct 2009). I had Coventry Jaguar of San Diego do a $250 inspection prior to purchase and the car passed with flying colors. The inspection included an engine compression test. The results were as follows 1=155, 2=155, 3=155, 4=150 5=145 6=150 (all in writing which I have a copy of). Since purchasing the car I have made this car a very dependable driver that is in excellent conditions. Within the past four months I have spent about $10,000 having the clutch rebuilt w/ hydraulics, a new power brake unit and master cylinder, new valve cover gasket, all hoses replaced, new spark plugs, all new fluids. I had the dash and the area around the stereo reskinned with black leather. (There are a ton of other minor things I had done as well, ie new wiper blades, too much to list. When the engine was pulled to get to the clutch I told the mechanic, “ fix anything that you would fix if it was your car.” The items weren’t broken but they were old and I figured I might as well get it done now while the engine was out).

This car is in beautiful condition. The paint and body don’t have any dings or scratches. The interior, although original, looks very nice. This is a very reliable driver. I drive it a couple of times a week. And it is a “head turner”.

I have all the receipts and, for serious buyers only, I will give you the name and number of the Jaguar mechanic that did all of the work. He knows this car inside and out.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
