Ebay item 1/31/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Chrome-1970-Jaguar-XKE-Roadster-4-2L_W0QQi ...
Current bid $1,125 reserve not met, 4 bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
1970 Jaguar XKE Series 2 Roadster Red / Black Leather Interior. This is a very rare and sought after 1970 Jaguar XKE Series 2 Roadster. The last owner has owed it over 30 years and stated that the car only has 18,000 original documented miles. The car is very nice and has been pained once. The car in the early 80's stayed in garage for a couple years and then came out of a deep sleep to hit the road again. The car floor pans are solid and have been replaced. The car has Weber's in the triple set up for more power. The car is in need of a new top and a carpet kit and she is ready to go. This is a very nice original car. The car ID# is as follows: 1R12109 The car has a North Carolina Title (Good for Export). The car runs and drives very well.

Car returns to ebay 10/22/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-series-2-roadster-4-2-liter-4-speed-ra ...
Current bid $15,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 6 days left in auction. Still in Georgia.
Sellers description:
· Original 4.2 liter inline 6 cylinder engine with 4 speed fully synchronized manual gearbox
· Engine number matches data plate (Engine number is 7R9623)
· Odometer reads 22,390; true mileage is unknown
· Good oil pressure, no smoke, engine sounds very good.
· Original color combination (many red XKE have had a color change, this is an original signal red car)
· New canvas soft top (very nicely done)
· Includes rare factory AC which blows cold (this is a nice option)
· Front and rear suspension were redone (rear suspension and brakes are a big job, this one has already been done)
· Excellent wire wheels and tires, including the spare
· Paint has many defects, especially in the front of the bonnet where there is paint crazing. There is a long scratch that was touched up on the left rear quarter panel and a few others areas that have been retouched over the years. Engine heat has bubbled the paint around the louvers (not too uncommon on a XKE). Panel fit is quite good. From 20 feet car looks good and can be used as is. I would recommend eventually to repaint it.
· Interior shows some age wear. Leather seats have have no cracks or open seams. Dash top is very good with no cracks. Interior is very useable as is.
· All gauges, except clock which probably stoped working in 1971, are working.
· Solid front and rear floors, trunk floor, engine frames and doors. Bonnet is straight and mostly rust free. Some rust and filler on the left quarter panel. I would recommend replacing this rocker panel next time the car is painted. Replacement rockers are readily available at a reasonable price. Overall body appears to be quite solid.
· Steering wheel upgraded to a 15 inch. The original wheel was 16 inches and is rather flimsy. This wheel feels much better and will not flex. If you prefer the original wheel, I have a spare and would gladly swap them out. Unless you are into showing the car I would recommend keeping this wheel.
· Chrome is straight and all there. Bumpers show some age pitting. Chrome on top of doors is quite nice. As mentioned, chrome wire wheels are very nice.
· Very good exhaust mufflers and chrome tips.
· Nice Lucas PL headlamps.
· Electronic ignition (this is a very sensible upgrade on an e-type).
· Radiator cooling fans were upgraded (another sensible upgrade as you can never have enough radiator cooling on an e-type!)
· Includes spare tire, spare tire hold down bracket, knock off hammer and tool, original owner's manual in pouch, some receipts.
Car drives, shifts and stops very good.
Good car for someone looking for a fun driver that has been sorted out and can be used "as is". You can then make it better over time, if you like.
