Finished in silver with blue leather / vinyl upholstery, this particular right-hand drive example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good / fair" (interior trim, bodywork, wheels / tyres) or "good" (engine, manual gearbox, electrical equipment, chassis, paintwork) condition. Purchased from the E-Type Centre in April 1993, EGC123H has been in the current ownership ever since. Reportedly the subject of extensive work during the late 1980s (as documented by an accompanying history file), the past thirteen years have seen the Jaguar benefit from an unleaded cylinder head conversion courtesy of the Cylinder Head Shop, Wimbledon (late '90s), fresh radiator (late 90's), reconditioned alternator, stainless steel exhausts (early '90s), replacement clutch ('93), new water pump (2004) and a carburettor rebuild (2004). Apparently treated to a body overhaul by GL Coachworks in the late 1990s, it has also received various new panels namely doors (Southern Classics late, '90s), floors (early 2000s) and a bonnet (GL coachworks, 2000). Enhanced by the renewal of its "seat trim and various panels / carpets (mid '90s)", the interior also boasts a Clifford car alarm and Sony stereo complete with 10-CD autochanger. Believed but not warranted to have covered 49,613 miles from new, EGC123H comes with history file, MOT certificate valid until March 2007 and two Cheney E-type suitcases.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
