This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is a non-running project car that was purchased new from Southeastern Sports Car Center of Atlanta, Georgia and collected by the original owner at the factory in Coventry, England in October 1969. The car reportedly has not been used or started since approximately 2009. The seller acquired the vehicle from the original owner’s estate in November 2023, and ownership subsequently was transferred to the seller’s nephew. Finished in yellow over black leather, the car is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six, triple SU carburetors, a four-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a black removable hardtop, a black convertible top, recessed fog lights, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereo, and air conditioning. This XKE roadster project is now offered by the seller on behalf of their nephew with 1969 purchase paperwork, manufacturer’s literature and correspondence, an owner’s manual, and Georgia registration in the owner’s name.
The car was ordered in Pale Primrose, and exterior equipment includes a black hardtop, a black soft top, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. Rectangular fog lights are recessed in the grille. Imperfections such as corrosion on the hood, below the driver-side headlamp, and on the passenger-side rocker panel are pictured in the gallery below along with chips beneath the grille, a broken turn-signal lens, black rubber around the rear bumper, loose window seals on the hardtop, and rips and tears on the convertible top.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by knock-off hubs and are mounted with Michelin radial whitewall tires, and a Goodyear spare on a wire wheel is located in the trunk. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Corrosion on the wheels is evident.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. Interior appointments include a Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereo and air conditioning. Corrosion is visible on the cabin floor, and the upholstery exhibits wear.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. A trio of aftermarket gauges is positioned to the left of the steering wheel. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors, which are missing their air cleaners. The seller states that the car has not been operated since around 2009 and the engine does not run. While diagnosis has not been performed, the seller indicates that the failure is attributable to the fuel system and recommends replacement of the fuel pump.
The four-speed manual transmission is linked to a limited-slip differential. Corrosion is noted on some underbody components.
The August 1969 bill of sale from Southeastern Sports Car Center lists equipment, options, and a total price of $5,154. Other 1969 paperwork shown in the gallery is associated with the car’s European delivery and subsequent shipment to Jacksonville, Florida.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Georgia registration.
