This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II two-seat convertible that was purchased new by its current owner and his wife from Continental Cars in St. Louis Missouri, and now shows 15k miles. It then spent time in Illinois and is said to have sat for at least two decades before it was transported to the selling dealer in Indiana for recommissioning work in September 2020. This included a rebuild of the carburetors and replacement of the U-joints and rear subframe bushings as well as brake, ignition, cooling, and fuel-system overhauls. Finished in dark blue over a leather interior, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ chrome wire wheels, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and chrome bumpers and trim. This XKE is now offered on dealer consignment in Indiana with manufacturer’s literature, a window sticker, recent and partial historical service records, handwritten fuel logs, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean Illinois title.

The exterior is finished in dark blue and features a black soft top, hood louvers, twin polished exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers and trim. Halogen headlights have been fitted, and the selling dealer notes that the nose was repainted following repair of a dent.

Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear red-stripe tires. The car features independent suspension at all four corners and four-wheel disc brakes with inboard rear rotors. Work since September 2020 included replacement of the ball joints, wheel bearings, brake servo, brake master cylinder, and brake hoses as well as the rear pads, rotors, and calipers. The front brake calipers were rebuilt in January 2021, and the front brake pads and rotors were also replaced during the refurbishment.

The interior features seats trimmed in leather with dark blue carpets overlaid by black rubber floor mats. Equipment includes a center console with an armrest, hand-crank windows, and a locking glove box.

The factory wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer indicates 15k miles.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Reconditioning work since September 2020 included a rebuild of the dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and replacement of the following:

fuel tank, fuel sending unit, fuel filter

thermostat, water pump, heater valve, and coolant hoses

spark plugs, battery, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, points, and condenser

The clutch master and slave cylinders, rear subframe bushings, trailing arm bushings, and driveshaft U-joints were also replaced and a stainless-steel exhaust system was installed. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.

The window sticker shows factory colors and equipment, initial delivery to Continental Cars of St. Louis, Missouri, and a total amount of $6,174.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate shows factory colors and a production date of October 1, 1969.

The car is supplied with manufacturer’s literature, receipts for the recent work, handwritten fuel logs, partial historical service records, and an odometer disclosure statement signed by the current owners that has been placed in the gallery.
