Ebay item 10/12/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-Convertible-Primrose-Pale-1 ...
Current bid US $20,000 reserve not met 1 bid 6 days left in auction. 70k miles.
Sellers description:
Jaguar E Type XKE unrestored matching numbers original survivor. 1969 in Primrose Pale yellow paint. The best color! The car looks beautiful, and despite being an unrestored survivor, in my opinion does not need restoration! There are a bunch of restored classic cars, and very few that are primarily unmolested and original survivors. To me, these are the unique ones and get lots of attention.
The car has had three owners, to my knowledge. The previous owner had the car for around 40 years, until I purchased the Jag in 2011.
The body and paint look great. The car was repainted once in the late 1970's, and the paint, honestly still looks really, really nice. The right front bonnet near the inner upper part of the cowling appears to have had a minor repair prior to the paint job in the 1970's. This is barely noticeable, but needs to be mentioned. The chrome is still shiny and more than presentable, being very slightly patinaed to a subtle hint undertoning of bronze color from age. This doesn't appear to me as an imperfection, but makes it look gracefully aged.
Usually cars on the Ebay auctions look much better in the pictures than they do in person. This is an exception. This Jaguar looks beautiful in person.
All original glass, nice and no damage from wiper blades or road wear.
Undercarriage appears as unrestored and undetailed, with some typical surface grime, so is therefore not painted and spray bombed over to camoflauge or hide anything. No rust issues, unlike the typical rust you see on most old Jaguars.
Interior is all original. The black leather seats show normal wear, with no rips or tears. The dash has a split in the middle, and has pulled a bit from the underneath. Door panels no issues. There is a rubber weather strip missing from the inner drivers door jam. Rubber mats only, the carpet has been removed form the floor pans, to prevent moisture and corrosion.
All the gauges and toggle switches function as they should. Wipers, and heater motor work well. Clock intermittently. After market cassette that has been there for forty or so years.
The soft convertible top is black and in very nice shape.
Extras;
Original Boot Cover
Full Tunneau Cover
NOS Amco Front, and Rear Bumperette Bars, not installed
Head Rests
Two Original Shop Manuals
Old Four Ply Tire and Wire Wheel Spare
Series One Style Knock Off Wire Wheels, these are really rare for this car!
Series One Style resonators and tail pipes.
Engine compartment and under the bonnet is undetailed and remains in original and driver type condition. No spray bombing here either.
The original 4.2 inline six is the original matching numbers engine. Appears all stock with the exception of the carburator breathers, which gives the engine a very high performance appearance.
It drives great, with good acceleration. Smooth shifting. sounds great. Isn't prone to over heating, could run all day at 180 degrees. Brakes perform as they should.
New clutch slave installed in 2012, as well as all new hoses, belts, water pump, electronic distributor, and complete tune up.
