This car was mentioined in the "transmission" section of the February '84 issue of Ejag magazine. A partial quote from Mike Canfield " My Cat is a 1968 2+2 first registered October 17, 1968. Serial number 1E79028, engine number 7E55445-9. It has Strombergs. My car has lived in California since I bought it in 1969, apart from a brief sojourn in New Jersey. It has 72k miles on it now and has not had any major engine work.

Car appears on Craigslist:
losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/car/760847692.html
Sellers description:
1968 Jaguar E-Type XKE 2x2 / 1.5 series / Fantastic Original condition / Low Miles
Description: Condition: 6 Cylinder 4.2 Liter Engine, 1.5 series, 2x2, with 91,655 original miles. Mostly everything on the car is original (even the British racing green paint and the leather Interior). I changed out the alternator (still have the original) and steering wheel (have that as well). The Exterior color is British racing green and the Interior Leather is Black. For most of it's life it was owned by one family (I am the second owner and bought the car in 2003), the vin # E79028. Series 1.5 are considered the best for collectors due to their sleek and lean appearance. This car is never been restored and in fine original condition. A great collectors car and driver. It is located in Minden Nevada (That is right near Carson City, Lake Tahoe and Reno). It is Garaged Kept and in excellent driving condition.
