The history of the car:
The original owner, Larry D Vaughn Purchased the car in april of 1968. He kept the car in climate controlled garage on carpet in Greenville South Carolina. In 1974 Mr. Hagain bought the car with 15,000 miles on it. He lived in Williamston S.C at the time and only drove it on nice days to work, and sometimes to the gym. In 1975 Mr. Hagain had the car repainted in the original color due to some flaws on the hood. The car was last registered and tagged in 1976 in Williamston South Carolina. In late 1976, Mr. Hagain and his Family moved to Jacksonville Florida and he drove the car from South Carolina to his new home in Jacksonville Florida. He rarely drove the car in Florida and then moved to Georgia in 1981. The car was hauled from Florida to Georgia in a moving van. He never titled the car in Florida or Georgia. The car was parked in the garage in with a car cover over it. Mr. Hagain had some unfortunate circumstances come up and the car just sat preserved in his house garage.
The car is currently located Rutledge Tennessee (near Knoxville). I purchased the car from Mr. Hagain earlier this year and it is currently exactly the way it left Mr. Hagains Garage. Dust, car cover, everything. I have not tried to start the car, I have not cleaned the car up, I have left the car untouched. The paint appears to be in great condition, the chrome bumpers and trim look great (dirty, but very good). The Wire wheels are in excellent condition with no rust (there is some grease on the wheels that has collected some dust over the years but they will clean up like new with just soap and water). The car has No Rust and has not ever been in any accidents. The interior is all original and in great shape but needs cleaned. The head liner has started to fall. The car is very original with the original battery cables and correct Pirelli tires (not in good shape). The original Jack, Bag, wheel knock off tool, and Thorhamer are still with the car and in great shape.
This car is one of those very rare instances where you get the oprotunity to purchase a great garage find as it was found and untouched. (There are road maps still in the console!) I really feel you need to see this car to fully appreciate its condition. I am selling the car with no reserve so don't miss your chance to own one of the best and very rare Series 1.5 Jaguar E-types (XKE).
