1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2-Litre 2+2 (Left hand drive)

£80000.00

Year of registration: 1966
Chassis no: 1E75462BW
Engine no: J671E75462BU

Transmission: Automatic

This vehicle came from California USA although we have not been able to discover how it came to be on the other side of the Atlantic. It is offered FULLY RESTORED (colour of your choice), with a current MOT/Tax and V5C registration document. The restoration is to include new interior and full engine and gearbox re-build as well as new wire wheels. Suspension + axels are to be powder coated (FULL NUT & BOLT RESTORATION). This will be a beautiful example when finished and is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the fast appreciating first series E-Type models.

The first significant up-grade of Jaguar's sensational E-Type sports car occurred in October 1964 with the launch of a 4.2-litre version, which featured an all-synchromesh gearbox and a host of other improvements as well as the bigger, torquier engine. The E-Type's top speed of around 150mph remained unchanged, the main performance gain resulting from the larger engine being improved acceleration. Like its 3.8-litre forbear, the 4.2-litre E-Type was built in roadster and coupé forms, and in 1966 was joined by an additional 'family friendly' 2+2 coupé variant on a longer wheelbase. With the 2+2's increased length and additional rear seats came greater headroom, more luggage space, improved heating/ventilation and optional automatic transmission.

This amazing car is currently owned by the Managing Director of Village Coachworks 2014 Ltd. It is due to get the most perfect FULL restoration at our well established bodyshop in Kent. All inspections welcome we are an approved bodyshop. Videos and photos are available should you require them, the car at this moment in time is in amazing condition given that the restoration has not yet started, It's a good solid car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
