Opening bid $9,500 no reserve no bids yet 6 day s left in auction.

    Sellers description:
This is a project car I picked up 7 years ago to restore. Time, work and procrastination have caught up with me and now, so I'm selling my all-time favorite car. The "BW" on the end of the body number indicates that it is factory equipped wit a Borg-Warner automatic transmission. This car has all the typical earmarks of the Series 1. Three SU carbs, three wipers, the old style "flipper" toggles, the covered headlights and the stylish Jaguar small tail and parking lights. All the pre Ralph Nader amenities. It is by no means in "restored" condition but as far as I know, has always been garage kept. The interior needs re-doing - mostly the front seats - as does the dash top pad. I am including a new top pad in this auction. The marker and tail lights have new lenses and one tail light has a new bezel. The engine RUNS! As a matter of fact, it runs well. When started the exhaust shows no smoke. The transmission works fine but clunks going into gear - suspect U-joint. The mileage shown is 56186 but the title shows 74179. I am not sure what that means, but the last 40 miles or so were put on by me before I put it in the garage in 2003. I since start it occasionally to keep the juices flowing, but never drove it after that except to pull it out to take some pictures and clean out the garage. While out, I decided to refill the brake reservoir and bleed the front brakes. After doing so, the rear brakes locked up and will need to be fixed. Could be an everyday driver with the brakes redone and routine maintenance. As far as I know, everything on the car is original and has a clear Virginia title. The paint is checked - typical with older lacquer paint. It has minimal rust and has had some bodywork in the past. The passenger door has a rust through spot as does the passenger rear quarter panel. Easily fixed. I re-skinned the driver door myself in 2003. I am also including new exhaust silencers. I had this car on the road in 2003 briefly before it was put away. I drove it into the garage, and drove it out. Now, with the rear brakes locked up it will need to have the rear wheels dollied to get it onto a rollback. The wheels including spare are the original Jaguar knock-off-type spoked spinners. The gas tank has been re-lined and the fuel is clean. I am including a few extra parts as mentioned above plus a few more simple parts. I had the chrome strip for the driver's door when I re-skinned it, but haven't been able to find it. I am starting the bid at $9,500.00 which is well below any Series1 I've seen in this shape. This auction is absolute - no reserve - the highest bidder gets it.

Present from Santa. Ebay purchase (sort of). Viewed and checked out by spouse. Didn't know of impending mad rush of blood until 11th hour. Now have Red (Lotus Esprit S1, 77), White E-type above and Blue (MGB roadster, 68).... Awaiting Heritage Cert.

Second owner seems to have lived in Minnesota. Thence to Virginia with two owners, the last being the owner for eight years until we purchased it.
Not sure why or when title changed to 1967.
Would love to know of possible previous owners.

Thanks to COVID this is now passed inspection and back on the road after 25 years. To some it needs body panels, rubber throughout and new interior but to me it’s as original as possible and back on the road. 240 miles in two weeks and counting... Loving it.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 is a running and driving project that was first owned in North Carolina, and it subsequently spent time in Minnesota and Virginia before being acquired by the seller in 2011. The car is finished in cream over red leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six with three SU carburetors linked with a three-speed automatic transmission. The seller has fitted a set of replacement 15″ wire spoke wheels, rebuilt the carburetors, overhauled the brake system, serviced the steering rack, and replaced the steering column bushings, ignition components, header tank, and fluids. This XKE project is now offered with an owner’s manual, records from the seller’s ownership, a Jaguar Heritage Production Record Trace certificate, and transferable New York registration.

The car is finished in cream and is equipped with headlight covers as well as front and rear chrome bumpers with tubular overriders. A pictured tag indicates that the car was treated with Tuff-Kote Dinol rustproofing. The seller reports that the lower driver’s door skin has been repaired and refinished, perforation is shown on the passenger’s door, and the body rubber is said to be in need of replacing. The seller reports that the wipers, washers, and horn are functional.

The seller installed a set of replacement 15″ wheels with eared knock-off center nuts and older tires measuring 185SR15, and the removed original wheels with tires are included in the sale. During current ownership the rear suspension assembly was removed to overhaul the brake system, which included replacement of the hand brake units, brake pads, master cylinder, fluid reservoir, booster, pistons, lines, hoses, and the addition of an easy-bleed system for the inboard rear calipers. The steering rack was also repaired, and the seller reports that the front and rear suspension will need to be overhauled.

The cabin is upholstered in red leather that the seller has repaired and treated with conditioner, and cracks, fading, and discoloration is visible throughout the cabin. The seller notes that the car has been keyed for a single key for all lock cylinders, the headliner is in need of repair, the carpets were partially replaced during prior ownership, and a replacement upper dashboard pad is included in the sale.

The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of factory Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges that extend across the center of the dashboard. 56k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, approximately 300 of which were added by the seller within the last three months. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors that were rebuilt during current ownership. Additional maintenance during current ownership included fluid services and replacement of the steering column bushings, ignition coil, header tank, fuel pump, battery, and air filter.

Engine stamping number 7E50435-9 is pictured above on the cylinder head and corresponds to the numbers shown on both the chassis tag and the included Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate.

Update. Had a certified letter concerning 1E75458BW asking to remove vehicle from some land in VA. Bring a Trailer (see above) buyer from VA seems to have left the vehicle on someone's land. Perhaps by mistake. For some reason the sender of the certified letter thought I was still the owner registered in NYDMV. Follow up with phone call correcting ownership issue.

Not sure what is going to happen next to this vehicle...

    Indeed...

Having got the vehicle back on the road after 27 years and enjoyed a couple of drives with friends totaling some 400 miles, I was rather hoping that the new buyer was going to finish the body work restoration to make it look like new.
