Ebay item 11/1/13

www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-2-2-COUPE-1967-jaguar-xke-series-1-coupe-2-2-4-2- ...

Current bid $27,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 6 days left in auction. 57k miles, Plainville, Connecticut

Sellers description:

1967 Jaguar XKE series I 2+2 - 57,000 miles 4 speed

1967 Jaguar that is basically untouched, the odometer displays 57,000 miles

This car is a very good older restoration , it has kept very well, had a dry heated garage for the last 20 years, same owner, and has very well kept interior that has remains ply-able and clean with very nice patina. The original wheels have no visible rust (refer to Pictures) This car runs well and drives very well, but we did not want to restore it because we didn't want to mask the originality of the car. We did uncover a very small rust issue in the lower front corner of the drivers foot well, but the car has a nice dry, honest, good sound integrity. The 4 speed transmission works as designed, the car drives straight and all the lights work, in fact it still has the original Lucas sealed beams in it and all original chrome. We did not highway test the car and we are selling it as is. We recognize that some buyers want to see the car as it is and do whatever level of restoration they feel justified. We are a restoration shop but we appreciate untouched cars and we have decided to let this car go as is. But hear that the car runs and drives, shifts brakes as designed.

the car needs a center muffler which was new when the car was done 20 years ago, but seems to have a lose baffle.

There are some slight paint issues in the hood. (from the exhaust heat) This does not look to be rust just a few paint imperfections.. See the pictures to see this.

Engine number is 7E5057E505319

Body Number: 4E5Q505

Gearbox Number: EJ8285

Look at the pictures closely, .

Other more specific notes:

The car has a period correct vintage wood Mota Lita steering wheel that has been on this car over 20 years and that is in great condition.

the wheels are all original wheels and are in very very good condition

the transmission sounds good shifts well, seems fine

the clutch works well, no chatter, seems fine

this car is sold with a Connecticut Registration and paperwork, -

it is as is. we are a Jaguar Repair Facility and we know these cars.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 coupe was built in April 1966 and distributed new through Jaguar Cars of New York. The car is said to have been refurbished under previous ownership and is finished in gold over beige leather upholstery. Powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, equipment includes enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, a heated rear window, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and a heater. This XKE Series I 2+2 coupe was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 and is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service invoices, a tool kit, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the selling dealer’s name.

Compared to the contemporary coupe, the 2+2 version of the XKE featured a lengthened wheelbase and increased roof height to accommodate a pair of rear seats. This example was delivered from the factory in Opalescent Golden Sand and is said to have been refinished under previous ownership. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, enclosed headlights, a driver-side mirror, rear vent windows, a heated rear window, and dual exhaust outlets. Cracked, faded, and bubbled paint around the exterior.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185-series Michelin XVS tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in beige leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and a heater. The front seat upholstery shows wear.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles. The clock does not work.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. An aftermarket stainless-steel exhaust system was installed under previous ownership.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

The Pennsylvania title lists an “Antique” brand.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
